Wanted - an interesting toy for sub £2k

I have the number of a house of ill repute in Berlin. Within you will find several things to play with for £2K, for and extra £500 they will play with you.....long time...well, until 0900hrs the following day.

I have probably been there ;)

Personally I would go for speed. Toyota MR2 turbo?

Nice, but i think further down my list than a few other cars.
Not a bad idea though.

I agree with Will about the cosworth. My dad just sold one that needed nothing for a mot if you just wanted a runner but in my opinion I would have had lots of bodywork done at least all arches and rear screen, 3 of the 4 door cards replaced and some of the suspension bushes/shocks changed.
Once he changed the fuel distributor on it and it ran well, he sold it the next day for £2k. My list is just a short list of what it needed for me to live with it.

They're not very fast anyway if you want a toy, but they are fun in their own way and are definitely appreciating.

I'm beginning to think that Vin's BMW is looking like the sensible option.

Good condition, plenty toys, few issues.

Interesting but not my thing due to LHD mainly. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Latest is I have been out bid on several Cosworths and Range Rovers.
I am pretty set on getting a facelift XJS at the moment and got a lead on a couple (different sellers) that have been in storage for a couple years.
Typically one is in Scotland!

Nice Golf VR6?

MG TF
Best value in the World- Loads around cheap Parts VVC 160 is so so so Cool

I have always fancied a Gilbern Invader or Genie.
Something a little different yet easy/cheap/simple to work on.
Also done properly and finished in a maroon colour they looks the mutts. Not too rare to be unobtainable yet rare enough to turn heads.
However, I doubt you will get one at £2K except a non runner needing a lot of work.

I know what you mean about those cars - they are cool - but I think you need to be into them to buy that sort of car if you know what I mean?
I appreciate what they are but I dont really know much about them and I think you need to be a Gilbern fan to really get them.
Also I like to have a wide network of parts suppliers, forums etc.
I am probably not making sense!

On the MG - you can get some cracking deals - I found an 80th anniversary which is quite interesting.
I am following up two XJS today, both facelift anf both well within budget, so if they are not rotting might have one.
Whats the betting the one in Scotland is the best one?

I've had an XJ-S and recently considered another - very very expensive to repair & upkeep and IMHO not very nice and boy do they Rot !
The TF is as Cheap as chips to run, handles like a Go Cart and virtually no depreciation , good ones should start to go up soon
Theres a Dealer on ebay called 2010mgfcars
They do a cracking car for around £3 k Head gasket etc etc replaced

Interesting feedback - can you give examples of why the XJS is not such a nice car and some expensive repairs? The parts when I looked seemed to be far cheaper than most.

The MGs do look interesting - I want something that needs a bit of work though so I can add value and enjoy the tinkering.

Great engine, especially in the slk chassis.
