Washing cars in freezing cold....

Considered doing it - then thought 'No Way!' :D

After all, it was washed last weekend and I only used it about three times last week (thought it better to abuse the company 406 HDI in the snow rather than get nasty road salt and snow all over the Merc!)

I'll give it a good proper wash next weekend whether it is cold or not! :)

I bought a new pressure washer on Friday (a Karcher from B&Q @ £124, very good it is too!!) I spent all Saturday pressure washing my gates and fence and then Sunday washing the van, Golf and then my car, I did a really poor job on mine as I was so cold I just wanted to go and sit by the fire!!

Go for a dominatrix Mistress next time, this Masochistic line your trying sounds like it really hurts. :D :D

I washed Edna yesterday afternoon. Had a greattime, wrapped up warm and just got stuck in - she looks loverly now :D

I used my new washmitts, and have had a strange thing which I'll have to look out for next time. While finishing drying and buffing with the lambswool fine mitt I was getting white cloudy smear type marks  I don;t know if it was cold or coz I was interrupted by my mate. Hope they go when I next wash it

I found a new way of washing the car to perfection in the freezing cold.

Take to the dealer..
leave for one week..
Collect.

Did you wash it/rinse it before use ? Alot of these type of products recommend that you do, see if it mentions it in any instructions/labels etc.

I washed mine on Sunday about 3.30pm in a T-Shirt - Oh and Jeans n Trainers too by the way !! :p , I thought it was quite warm on Sunday in the Sun  If its ever that cold I normally wash it quick outside then dry it of in the garage.

Must be a tropical part of our West Coast :D

We only went down to -3c but had a good frost and a little snow.

I went upto Runcorn last Wednesday and the locals commented that they never get snow or really cold weather, whereas both of my journeys were in snow.

driving on a40 saturday night, slit with slight rain to top it all the gritting truck had just done the job,the car covered with the grit, couldn't bear it any more so sunday i
shampoo'd and rinsed, just couldn't dry it as was snowing while washing, neighbours thought iam crazy, but it had to be done, fingers toes and almost all other bits were totally frozen, took good 15-20mins to recover.worth a try especially when its snowing.

some local albanians are happy to do a hand wash in any weather ;)

LMAO! I actually got out there and gave it a good wash! I think those 7mm scuba diving gloves I bought when I first started diving were the best invetment ever!

Yep - they did a cracking job on the 406 Estate from work. No one had washed it since its last trip to the bodyshop (last year). It was so thick in dirt you could hardly tell the colour of the bottom half!

Six of them jumped all over the car with wash mitts - the foam actually turned black with all the dirt.

Good job for six quid! And beats getting cold....;)

Nah - was on the Hampton Court Way (from the Scilly Isles towards Hampton Court Bridge)

Not sure when they start (never been there before!) but they are open until it's quite dark (they work under big Halogen lights!). I wouldn't trust the Merc anywhere, always clean it myself but this Peugeot was seriously disgusting!

the lack of snow is probably due to the chemical plants melting it before it reaches the ground ;)

I know its advisable to remove salt/grit ASAP - but how long did you guys leave it on urs before washing ur cars?

Flash

Could you guys show me a pic of a car with quite an amount of 'grit/salt' as i would like to see if i'm swimming in the same pool as you guys !

thanx

I do about 400 miles per week just for work and it's about 50% motorway so the car has been basically grey with salt and grit by the end of the week!

Washed my car at midnight last night, more details to follow on another thread :)
