We need a Landrover sub-forum

NAnother vote for an RR subforum here!!.

Land Rover.... Range Rover..... they don't even know what they want??:D

What we need is a moderator with the guts to move this to...Defectors to Other Marques Forum.

I thought this was a Mercedes Benz club?

.

Get on with it then!

I moved to Mercedes as I wanted luxury, but have tested a couple of Range Rovers and Discos again recently and hate to say it, but they have got Mercedes licked in that department.

You'll be next to flip. ;)

Just for Druk, gratuitous picture time! :p

Land Rover! Land Rover! Land Rover! :D

Perhaps every post in this thread should start with the words -- " Call me Ishmael" ;)

My old bus... No longer have it. Was an 05 facelift td6

Loved it and wish I never sold it.

Just been to Bristol in ours, because of the recent arm op I only did 5 miles, Mrs JB did the rest.
For the first time in a very long time I wasn't too unhappy to be a passenger.
Lovely place to be for the unitiated!

I made the move from a TD6 to the 4.4 V8 with LPG a while back and got to say the V8 petrol is such a nicer drive, and with LPG it's cheaper to run than the TD6!!, not that the TD6 was bad to be fair to it, I just found it a bit lacking power wise at times, it's a lot of car to pull around with only 180 ish BHP.

I'm going to be changing mine again soon and can't decide between a TDV8 or a complete change of car and going for a Cayenne Turbo.

My wife owns a Defender 90 (1987 model completely rebuilt from the ground up). Since buying it for her last March I haven't slept a whole night since due to the amount of them being stolen. Every single day I get alerts through to my phone from Landywatch notifying me of stolen Defenders the previous night. Most weekends she can be found greenlaning in it up to the bonnet in water wading through some river. I thought when she turned 60 she'd actually calm down a bit but she's gone even more extreme.

Finally ready to get a pic of ours. A little dirty, but that's how a working car should be... All fuelled up for the next trip.

They always look better after a bit of use:

Had a Discovery 3 for years. Really miss the practicality but don't miss the bills! Had to go after corroding brake lines generated a four figure repair quote.

Bought a FFRR Autobiography 2 years ago now as moved to the country, am an avid buyer of large items on Ebay and have a 4 years old climber and all that a 4 year old needs. Paid £30k for it with 32k on the clock, a huge discount on the poor previous owner, got it LPG'd immediately and love it, will not have one in the family, ever. The SL500 is still loved to bits but now the 4 year old can wreck the Rangie not my pride and joy. Before finally persuading the missus we needed one, had an interesting journey of around 5 miles on dual carriageway with lots of quiet roundabouts with me in the Merc being chased too successfully by one of these beasts, couldn't lose it no matter what I did. If your going to get one I would go for petrol, they lose so much money in the first few years they are a bargain second hand, sound awsome and with LPG are an affordable luxury, filled mine up at weekend for £34 and will get 200 miles for those 75 litres of LPG.

Lovely car. Lpg not for me - I'd have needed to fill up 4 times in the last 3 days....

I initially was convinced I needed a 5.0 Supercharged in my life until it dawned on me that although the mpg wouldn't bother me, endless filling up would. Hence why we went for the 2012 4.4 TDV8 AB which in real terms, is much easier to live with in that sense.

In 'Top Trump' terms, I can live with being only one second slower 0-60 and 10mph less top speed (130 compared to 140) knowing that I could play with both sets of numbers all week and probably still not need to fill up!

Besides, I ran a Defender on LPG for eighteen months and found that I couldn't rely on any of the filling stations within reach to have their LPG pumps working with any kind of certainty.

Another issue I've heard is the 4.2/5 litre Jaguar derived engines have soft valve seats and LPG will eventually cause issues resulting in a rather large repair bill. The only one which is bulletproof to LPG is the earlier BMW engined 4.4.
I don't do many miles and want to upgrade mine but even after having both an E and SL 55 AMG, the Supercharged sounds that bad on petrol so will go for a TDV8, lovely cars though!!.
