What car did you pass your driving test in?

Long wheel based land rover diesel ex army in 1976. Unusual choice even then but all work had to spare.

1957 Mk II Ford Consul.

It was my first car and the reg. was VUL109!

A Talbot Sunbeam - or was it a Sunbeam Talbot......?

Right first time, though the one in your photo is a Lotus Sunbeam.

A Sunbeam Talbot, on the other hand, would have looked more like this:

Mk 1 Cortina courtesy BSM. But the car I'd had my lessons in, with floor gear change and handbrake, was crashed the day before my test, so I had to use their other Cortina, column change/bench seat/unbrella handbrake. Also all the demist controls were different, and it poured with rain throughout my test.....

Still passed first time though, as I had my bike test the previous year, and two RAF tests a few years later.

A Lambretta GT200 and then a Simca 1000

More likely to have been an HC.

Definitely HC. My first car (discounting an Austin 1300 that went straight from the MOT station to a scrap yard :D) was a 1971 Viva HC.

Isuzu Gemini a late 1980s model... Easy car for a learner....but as a drivers car.. stupid. That was the car I passed my test. The car I actually learned to drive was a Mazda 323 the last real wheel drive. I had that car for few years and I learn a lot on how to handle real wheel drive cars...

Not mentioning what motorbike I passed my test on because that wasn't the OP's question and I know that deviation from the thread is frowned upon so rarely happens . But I passed my car test in my first car, a 1954 Austin A40 Somerset:

A 1964 Hillman Minx, first time.

The year I was born, That would've been a HB Viva?
No I have just looked on Wikipedia and it was an HC as correctly stated by some others. I remember the distinctive ridge along the middle of the bonnet.

I only had a couple of instructor lessons as I had learnt to drive tractors and cars on our farm before I was ten. However I always remember the instructors question 'What is the most dangerous component in this car?' to which the correct answer was 'The nut behind the wheel'.

1974 mini pick up, in red! with a 1300GT engine fitted.

In 1955 ,I painted my car red,,only to find that most insurance companies would not insure a red car
