What fuel do you use in your car?

hi,

I realised that my M157 CLS 63 estate (aka s/brake) recommends using 98/99 RON fuel at all times. I have put in once or twice std 95 but didn't notice any 'issues' per see.

Just wondering what do you use (especially these days when fuel prices are simply extortionate)?

Super unleaded - always

V Power only in mine. Other "Super" unleaded fuels can be a bit hit and miss for availability in my area, so I spare myself the hunt and head straight to Shell.

I wouldn't even consider E10 though, I'm sure my 22+ year old fuel system wouldn't thank me. My car can sit for weeks at a time due to work commitments, even 5% ethanol makes me wince a bit at times. Due to a background in drag racing and having seen first hand the effects methanol and ethanol can have on a fuel system (albeit it much higher concentrations), it's not something I want to have too much of really.

The W211 E280 CDI ... ASDA diesel + a shot of Millers Diesel Power Ecomax (or whatever it's now called)

With today's prices, I'm glad that I'm not doing the 30,000 miles a year I used to do.

I always put super in mine, 97 minimum. Whilst using lower RON won't harm the car the ECU will retard the timing to cope with it if the car was designed to use super.

99 Ron is surprisingly scarce. Shell, Tesco and most Esso.
Since E10 was inroduced E5 is now 97 Ron and available almost everywhere so there is no need to use 95 Ron E10.
I have been using Sainsburys recently and not getting any loss of performance or fuel consumption.

Tesco 99 is my nearest station. Occasionally I do add Octane booster now an then. A friend mentioned that he is a member of a Porsche club and he gets about 6p off a litre on Shell superunleaded. He has to pay annual membership though with the club and gets access to these perks.

Momentum 99 normally. Odd occasion I had to use 95 in a pinch but mixed it with half a tank of 99 and never did WOT. I put more 99 back in as soon as poss.

I couldn't afford a C63 Coup and bought a C300 AMG Line instead - only a kid on AMG I know but between that and my last car, a 2008 V8 Audi S5, I've always put in premium fuel. I try to buy Shell's V Power but I don't drive out of my way to get it. Other than V Power it's only BP Ultimate or Esso Synergy Supreme+ for me!

Costco, but when the Dartford crossing is blocked or takes too long, Sainsbury's. I believe in driving a long way to get my fuel plus it's a nice time to top up on my single malts...

'Booster' like for a diesel is a good option.

If only we had access to higher grade diesels in the UK.

V Power, it is also handy there are 4 shell stations nearby.

The car has knock sensors and variable valve timing. Unless you plan on racing it , uring regular won't make a difference. Certainly not in London where the speed limit is 20mph in most cases

I looked at booster options back in the past... price wise they are not worth it, as one is better off using Momentum 99 or VPower (least to mention the conveneince factor).

99 + booster sounds interesting albeit I'm no eng/specialist to comment whether it will do any harm if used occasionally?
