What Have You Done To Your Merc Today?

Had the fuel filler neck replaced by Nick at Parkham Garage - great job and I was able to do a few little bits myself in the meantime too, like treat the underside with waxoyl, clean and protect brake pipes, etc  Quite a difference from watching your car from behind a glass wall at MB ...

The rust on the old filler neck was shocking:

Glad we caught it in time - no way to tell how long it would've taken, before a fuel leak

Washed it yesterday, used a new Clay mitten from Halfords and Auto Finesse tripple wax, what a difference, gotta love the feeling of a clean nicely waxed motor, the way the moisture sits on your paint in the morning, its pleasing

Tried to imagine how good the freshly refurbished alloys look......however, given the current climate I’ll not see it for a while now as it’s stuck with the refurbisher.....

Well, not actually to a Mercedes, but it does begin with 'M'! Full service and rear pads on the MX5.
Not being a road car specialist, I'd never really come across the combined handbrake and main rear calliper with 'wind back' pistons.
I've designed tools for fast pad changes in racing, but the were always just standard multi piston callipers, and most road cars I've had before have had separate callipers for the hand brake.
I admit I had to 'cheat' a little and consult the web prior to finishing the job!
Still, all good now and ready for another year's action.....when we are allowed out!

Whizzed to the supermarket to pick up a few bits and pieces to keep us going, and on the way stopped at the jet wash to remove bird poo from the fabric roof before it took hold.

Such a beautiful day for a drive - shame it wasn’t somewhere more pleasant than the supermarket - but it was really wonderful to get out on a nice day nonetheless.

Why didn't you take the long way home? 3 miles to the shop but 20 miles to get home.

I took the longish way there. I didn’t take the Mickey though :)

My wife runs a nursing home up in Buxton, so gets to drive in the Staffs and Derbyshire moorlands each day, but that means I have to be extra careful.
I'm confined to a weekly dawn raid on the local Tesco:confused:

Buxton is beautiful. We spent many a weekend there when we were younger, great memories. The Palace Hotel was a lovely treat. We used to call in for lunch on route at ‘The Lantern Pike’ in Chapel. We keep saying we should revisit one day soon.

Washed both the girls, noticed some rust bubbling alittle on the old girl, something that will need sorting, so will be after recommendations for paint shops to take her to once we come 'out the other side' :)

Sarah, if you don't mind a little drive I can recommend Brewster's over by Billericay station. They resprayed my Designo Magno Platinum bonnet and it is a perfect match

Thanks, she was resprayed twice at a garage in Southampton but that's not logistically possible now, so local will be far more sensible.

When it eventually stopped snowing, changed engine oil and filter of my W220... and noticed 1st stage black death of cyl no1 injector

Fix it quick, very simple job if you catch it early enough.
Leave it and it will be a pain to even clean up let alone get an injector out.

Had the black SL a year today, really wanted to go out for a good drive

Finally got round to fitting the door lock covers.Door-Lock-Decoration-Rust-Protection-Stainless-Steel-Cover-Case-For-Mercedes-benz-C260-C180-C2...jpg
Before and after.
