What Have You Done To Your Merc Today?

Starting a service. Doing air and cabin filters today.

Finished the service on the W212 after its MOT yesterday.

Filters and an oil change, already done the brake fluid.
No rain but very very cold even though the sun is out.

Taking it easy, I like the style. No point in rushing things. :)
My back is killing me after doing the air filters! Absolute agony!

Couldn't do cabin filter, as I got one for a LHD car, not RHD! D'oh!!!

LH air filter was a pig of a job. I just couldn't get the air supply unclipped.

Lost a driver head and screw (for hold coolant bottle) down inside the engine bay. Can't be ****d to look for them today.

Still got to do oil, oil filter, fuel filter, brake fluid, then correct cabin filter!

Had my service done by MB on Tuesday, had a nail in tyre on Wednesday (New Tyre) Had MOT Yesterday , Passed but advised tracking may be out. Had tracking done and it was out quite a bit. Had car on charge today to top up the main battery , all done. What a week in MB ownership:)

Went grocery shopping for the first time in ages - usually deliveries now - and took the least practical Mercedes we have.

I even took Mrs D for a romantic drive thru Starbucks Vampire Frappuccino on the way there, and drank it in the rain 🌧

Bit like us on Wednesday - took SWMBO for an appointment at the hospital, coming away from that at about 1pm would normally have had a drive and a pint, but pubs all shut, so for want of nothing else to do just took a seriously scenic route home for a change of scenery from the back and front gardens! We're both getting seriously ***** with this damned lockdown.

The W211 E220 threw a Right dipped beam error up on the dash.
They are the D2S high voltage type.

Swapped (very fiddly) the lamp from the Right to the Left and error moved to the Left.

Ordered 2 x Osram Nightbreaker D2S, they are not cheap!

Got the rials back from the refurb - Chromium finish.

V Happy.

Went for a drive with the whole family and dog in one - taking a few photos along the way - and went to teach my daughter how to drive in another.

What have I done? Absolutely nothing again! Car desperately need a thoroughly good clean inside and out, maybe tomorrow......

Filled the boot full of Guinness (90 cans) to see me through the festive period.

Not a Merc. but serviced chaps car next door.
1. Old Cabin Filter was installed wrong way round.
2. Screws (2) for air filter not screwed in after last work.
3. Hoses for fuel filter had been left dangling rather than pushed into slots.
4. Bracket left loose at top of engine after last service.

Jetwashed berries and leaves off a few with my new Karcher cordless jetwash and DI vessel. The stormy weather whisked up the leaves, and had made them stick.

I’ve done this a few times now, and I did it again earlier this evening to remove some bird poo picked up whilst the car was parked beneath a tree.

I set this up so that in summer I can quickly remove bird poo, in autumn I can quickly remove berries and leaves, and in winter I can quickly remove road salt and mud,

It’s absolutely not intended to be a wash, it’s intended to freshen-up the car between details during the dirtier times of the year, in the quickest way possible.

This set up works beautifully, The jet from the cordless jetwash isn’t strong - but it’s strong enough - and the battery doesn’t last long - but it lasts long enough.

With a sealant and a DI vessel, a quick blast makes the car look like it did before the poo/berry/leaf, without any watermarks which make the car look dirtier!

Next I will try a quick sub-10 minute contactless snowfoam “wash” & filtered water rinse to see if the extra snow foam stage is worth the extra time required.

Changed the thermostat and top hose and new coolant on the E63 6.2. Bleed the system. All is well. Running sweet. I took it out for a spin. Performance was just how I imagined it to be. With the odd bark along the way. đź‘Ť

I finally got a diamond grille fitted , Sinclair MB body shop did a great job ,as usual, and reasonably priced .Had my first try at vinyl wrapping, covered the chrome front splitter in gloss black , not the difficult job I imagined . I did cheat somewhat as I had bought a set of black splitters last year so used them as a template . IMG_1581 (2).JPG
