What Have You Done To Your Merc Today?

So very lucky to find this plot 20 years ago. Even nicer in Summer. Happy with the new look , didn't want to go full Night Edition , too much work. 👍

oops posted this in the wrong thread ,

Rear Differential oil changed as well as two rear subframe mounts on the E63 W212 6.2.

Changed the faulty Left dipped headlight lamp (D2S Osram) on the W211 E220.
Hand and wrist all duly scraped to heck now.

Gonna see how this looks in the dark compared to the Right before doing the Right one too.

So we've fitted the period correct rials after trying the old colour, then getting them refurbed and 'chromiumed', and found period correct rust. Have fitted all new steering and suspension components front and back, including all new bushes. Dropped her 50mm. Welding to chassis rails, bulkhead and new wings, valance being fitted. Then a new sealant on the underbody, sprayed and she's a good 'un.

^ Wimpy Rob?
A long time since I've seen one of those.

Used to like that bender sausage;)
I promised to treat @ringway to a cheesy bender on the common, so when this is all over and we can meet again, I’ll treat you too 👍🏻

Where did you get them from? We use them at work and they are so hard to find, we've had a few donated but could do with a few more
I often spot them when I'm out running usually one at at a time.

My wife spotted these in a skip. She asked the builders if we could have them and they were more than happy.

I guess its hard to get rid of them round here.

Now that’s commitment!

Thanks :)

I needed to get it done it developed a brake squeak Friday that was driving me crazy but i found that the brakes are wearing faster on the drivers side.

Not good! i suspect a slow caliper for a while but nice to have it confirmed. It isn't down to disc thickness as i replaced the discs and pads three years ago when we had the beast from the east (at least it was warmer this morning), also replacing retaining springs and guide pins at the same time.

I couldn't justify the £144 so close to Christmas so picked up some Brembo pads from ECP, cleaned up the spring and guide pin and replaced them as it's only a 15 minute job per side.

Having the calipers refurbished is on my list of things to do next year so will be fine until then.

Unrelated to the brakes i had my knocking noise return wear the rear spring is interfering with the control arm i had the spring replaced a few years back but when switching to winter tyres it returned so i dropped into Mercedes Saturday to see what they thought and to price replacing the control arm. They called and said the spring was upside down (hmm), then called shortly later and said that it isn't upside down but by turning it around it should cure the problem (double hmm).

I said ok go for it and £86 later i got the call the car was ready for collection, however upon replacing the pads i saw the "repair":

Yep the spring has been turned around still interferes so Molly grease has been put there so i can't hear it .

I'm back on the phone today requesting it to be repaired properly.

Is there perhaps a missing shim?
