What Have You Done To Your Merc Today?

Failed the MOT test. :(

At just 267k miles my beloved little 2007 Vito has just failed her MOT test... :wallbash:

🤔 To lighten the mood slightly...:
Who want's to state their best estimate of the Repair Immediately's that they would predict are responsible.? ( be interesting to see who's closest to correct).

Welding near seat belt fixing points or other structural mounting points or sills?...........about a monkey??

I'm going along the same lines of TeddyRuxpin - washer jets not working........... 1/2 Litre of tap water.
But then no-one on here would submit a vehicle for MOT with an empty washer bottle, would they? 🫢

But did you know it's against the law not to keep the bottle filled? Of course, you're unlikely to be prosecuted. But if you do have an accident deemed to be caused by a lack of vision and your washer bottle is empty, you could be in trouble.

Adjusted the washer nozzles positioning with my newly acquired tool . 👍👍👍👍

Well my iCarsoft MB v2.0 has just arrived! So im going to see if it'll tell me what's up with the transmission when i clock off. Question for anyone with one of these - im not clear if i just have to plug the unit into the OBD port or if i have to attach the separate power/USB line as well?

If anyone has any recommendations for youtube vids for instructions that would be great...

The mb2 is good but mb3 is better , it does vin recognition.

The small lead is for usb connection to a laptop so you can update the software, something you should do the day you get it. 👍👍

I did look at the 3 but to be honest i think the 2 is fine for me. I tried it this eve and what a super bit of kit. One of those things i wish i'd actually bought ages ago! Anyway seems my transmission is fine - looks like it's the DPF pressure sensor that's faulty P245328 and causing limp mode and now im getting P246309 which i think is a full DPF. Ive ordered a new sensor and im hoping that will allow it to regen. I did try to force a regen through the icarsoft but it wouldn't let me stating a communication error. So im not sure if it's not available for my car or if there's another issue.

After you fit the new sensor go back into that dpf regen screen , icarsoft should run some pre adaptation tests before failing a regen , but the adaptations test will let the ECU know the new values. Otherwise even a new dpf sensor will still flag a full dpf . You can't do a static regen , a driving one maybe possible, I tried 3 times, but it always timed out .

I've owned 2 x mb2 . Yes good kit . The 3 includes ad blue adaptations , air filter , and battery . Alot of things my car has ,but mb2 didn't .

Wiper blades?

Or missing under tray screws, 80p a fix?

(I'm taking the optimistic approach)

Close, it failed on the beam distorted on the O/S headlight.
Not quite as self-inflicted as wiper blades or washer fluid, but I was aware that the lense looked visibly dull compared to the N/S and I have been intending to do something about it. MOT fail will do for the inspiration.!
So today I've purchased one of those Holts Headlight renovation kits like @HappytalkAgain just got, and will see how I get on restoring it.

It’s arriving today but I’ll not have time to give it a go until the weekend. Be interesting to see how good they clean up for both of us. 🤞

Funnily enough I've got the Quixx kit inbound. Going to try it on the CLK as soon as I get an hour. Or six.

Beat you to it Rich..
I can feel a "show us your restored headlights" thread coming on!
I await the replies, with pictures mandatory, off course.:banana: I suppose you could put car related ones on, if you have to.:(
Rather than start a new thread ( I'm sure a certain killer-Mod will step in, if this is deemed inappropriate😉 ) I have elected to simply post in here...

Well, it's done..
I certainly don't think I'm going to win any prizes, or have this as a money spinning sideline.!
Hopefully good enough to fool the MOT inspector though.?
