What Have You Done To Your Merc Today?

I investigated Something loose and rattling by the rear seats of the S212. It’s something that rolls left to right on corners. I’ve had all the rear load bay apart but I can only think it’s something loose in the space underneath the backrests. (Not underneath the bench, I’ve had that out). There is a gap but no idea what it could be rolling around. My next plan is to attach a proboscis to the hoover to try to suck the thing up. Otherwise I’ll have to take the rear backrests out which seems a bit fiddly.

I suppose i could fire some contact adhesive into the void to capture the offending item but that approach doesn’t sit well.

Ear plugs?? 😇

Going to DHL depot to collect the final bit for my quad exhaust job. Rather than cutting the lower part of the bumper, I ordered a CLK 63 one. Reason being that no matter how well the cut was made, the slightest difference would irritate the life out of me. Just hope we don't lose or break any retaining clips, I tried to order some but they are no longer available. No doubt there will be something in my bits box should I need a rescue job.

Fitted a Dashcam to my recently acquired W212 E220 estate, the cable was super easy to hide compared to my old car (Saab 9-5). Wish I could find somewhere to download a Workshop/Service manual for this car, I don't even know where the battery is yet

Booked two in for services. One had a service left on a Service Care Plan which I had completely forgotten about, and the guy booking me in spotted it.

The other one has a brand new service co tract but I’m paying for this one as it’s an A service (with combination filter) only, which is the least expensive of all.

Up early (0400) to get to the MOT station for an 0700 slot. It’s almost an hour away but with a severe weather warning and a threat of 8-inches of snow I set off very early.

It was all done and I was back on the road again before 0750 with a clean pass MOT certificate riding shotgun on the passenger seat. Shame the weather was awful.

Drove the S65 home and it made me think that maybe I'd be making a mistake to sell this car for an e92 M3? You can't help but laugh out loud when you put your foot down!
I test drove an E92 M3 then ultimately bought a W204 C63 AMG. The BMW felt extremely hard on the road and the interior seemed very low-rent to me. I can only imagine your S65 must be an infinitely nicer thing than an E92.

I'm now off to look at S63s and S65s I can't afford... :)

I woke up to reasonably blue skies today, which led to me completely forgetting that yesterday evening we had to drive through quite a lot of flood water.

By the time I dragged Mrs D into the car it was very blooming wet and miserable again, but I’d be looking forward to a top-down drive for hours so we did.

I finally remembered that there was flooding when we - and every other vehicle had to do a U-turn on one of the busiest main roads through Derbyshire Dales.

Cue long diversion, because the shorter-but-still-quite-long diversions are on roads which are too narrow for this car normally, nevermind when there’s diverted traffic.

Making light progress meant that we kept dry apart from for 5 minutes of very heavy downpour which we caught quickly and put the hood up whilst rolling and carried on.

Unfortunately the conditions meant that it wasn’t quite the drive out we hoped it might be but it’s always nice to be behind the wheel. The car is filthy again now!

Got the SLK55 mot'ed and now using it as a daily quite good fun in the snow 😳
Range rover has gone couldn't justify the road tax at £750 from april
Sounds like your SLK was registered at a good time. Ours was £700 VED on September, so it was registered at a bad time!

Gave the A Class a quick oil and filter change....followed by a wash and vacuum. Still comes up like close to new...

Then did the ALFA.... again an oil and filter and all levels and tyres followed by a wash as I'm off to Cornwall for a few days tomorrow with the boys and my son...should be fun.

Do tell us more!
I never even had chips, never mind cod. Instead I resorted to foraging in the fridge and made myself a Greek salad with what I found in there.

Blooming enjoyed it too, but it wasn’t substantial enough to satisfy my man size appetite so I have four Birds Potato Waffles in the oven for pudding.

The advert did say that they were waffley versatile, and mentioned that you can grill ‘em, bake ‘em, fry ‘em, eat ‘em, but there was absolutely no mention of pudding.

What are you Waffling on about? 😉🙂

I do like the W204 C63 also but I think I'm a bit obsessed with the M3's as I've had M3's for over 15 years and now it feels strange not to have one. I know, it doesn't make sense but then again , most time I don't make any sense 😄.

You are 100% right about the quality of the S class, there is no comparison as everything feels high quality inside, not just the leather but the buttons and everything else. I'll probably regret selling a V12 BiTurbo for a naturally aspirated V8 M3

Sat is a brand new S Class recently.....less than impressed with the interior quality of that.... expecially compared to the last couple of generations.

I think I posted in this thread that I had had a second CTEK unit fail recently, but I can’t find it from a search. I had a CTEK MXS 5.0 fail a year or so ago after a year or two of use, and more recently I had a CTEK CT5 fail after a similar amount of use.

The first was replaced by the retailer at the time, but this one was made more complicated as CTEK gifted it to me, so there was no retailer to return it too. They replaced it without fuss, and the replacement arrived today.
