What Have You Done To Your Merc Today?

😳 bet you didn’t even know that your buttocks had even half the clamping power that they delivered that day! 😀
You want to talk about buttock clenching......try sitting in the back of a VW Passat driven by a Greek taxi driver who suddenly realises that he's late for his next pick up.

Took the HK sub out from the footwell, a bit of a game!! still no nearer getting it working tho
Also offloaded the CLK, now retired cant justify 2 Mercs on the drive...... or can I

Cheers - I did a bit of reading as well on generic veneer shaping and 1-3 hours seems reasonable to get it properly soaked. Probably going to find 2 small bits of wood to put either side of it then clamp it in place and leave it for a few days then see how it looks...

I'll let you know what happens!

Well, 3 hours of soaking done and now it's clamped between 2 bits of wood and kitchen roll for padding.

Will leave it a few days and see what happens...

Tell us more. 🤔
Been waiting a month for AMG Technical (Germany) to direct the dealer on diagnosing a fault. They’ve just replied to say they think it might be the active transmission mounts. I told the dealer that I thought it was that when I booked it in!

The tech asked if I wanted to go in and take a look before they strip off the flat underfloor panels, because they’re a bit of a bu99er and often require replacement parts which the warranty won’t pay for even though they break when removing for access.

Hopefully it is sorted soon, and all the parts are available 🤞🏻

It’s the first time the AMG Tech and Workshop Foreman had seen the Smart Roadster - turns out that they had met during technical training when the Smart Roadster was launched. The foreman managed to get un, but couldn’t!( get out!

Watched the E400 hit 57k as I pulled onto the drive

Also opted to make a special trip out to Screwfix Thursday evening for a C&C item.
Could have waited until I was passing over the weekend but given it was a lovely evening here I was able to drop the roof and take the SLK55 out.

Bumped into a chap in his Boxster doing exactly the same unnecessary trip

Washed the old girl ready for the Matching Green Car Show tomorrow (see Events if you've missed it) . It's been a while since I've taken her to a show, but since she's had some work done, she's ready to show off again

A Screwfix trip in a Topless SLK55. What dreams are made of. 🥳👍👏👌

Oil, filters. front discs, front and rear pads, rear ARB link rods and new replacement n/s headlight. Spendy.

It's working well though. Totally clonk-free. Not long after I had front links and bushes done I heard another clonking noise. It's always almost impossible to tell where it's coming from as it always sounds like somewhere in the middle.

Anyways the clonk has gone! Makes the car feel 10 years younger.

Disconnected towbar lights controller....maybe water ingress or faulty unit....but, it was driving me crazy saying I have a problem with indicators.....

"Indicators" that I hardly used.... ONLY joking 😂

Nice drive down to Roanne with a stop in Reims to make it less of a slog. This kind of fully laden trip is what the S212 does best I think. I’m glad I got the aircon sorted in advance, temps well into the 30’s on the way down. Turns out the issue was with the ac controller module so £40 for a used one off eBay did the trick.IMG_0941.jpeg
