What Have You Done To Your Merc Today?

I gave the underside a clean. Had to drive on wooden blocks as the car was too low to get this under. Bargain price of £15.95 from Amazon (now about £40 I think)

I’m thinking about having a jets mounted into the driveway - like a fixed version of this - to clean the underside of the cars coming home in the winter. I’ve been scratching my head thinking how to stop the water from freezing in the pipe though, without adding it to the hot water recirculation in the house.

Warning: I may get a bit ranty.

Picked one up which has been at the main dealer for more than 7 weeks for diagnosis and parts. The day before it went in it was fully detailed as I intended to take it to an event the following day. When I went to collect it the dealer asked me to leave it with them, as they could get potentially get the parts overnight and get it sorted, so I left it there and took something else to the event.

More than 7 weeks later…

I received a text message last week whilst I was on holiday to say that the main part they need is still unavailable with no date given, and so asked me to collect it. Perfect as I’m going to another event tomorrow and I can take it having not seen it for almost 2 months. Arranged a short notice detail for today to make sure it looks it’s best.

So I called ahead yesterday to check the status on the part, ask that it is all back together and confirm that it will be ready to collect today, and they said yes anytime from 0830 today. Brilliant. I’d prefer for it to be fixed but at least it will be at home rather than at the dealership, and I can use it tomorrow whilst the weather is good.

Arrived, waited, they eventually handed me the keys. My spider sense was tingling so I asked about the part date and was told they’re still waiting. I asked them to double check, and whilst they were gone I asked parts - hey presto it is being sent from Germany on Thursday. What are the chances - had they checked I bet that date was known for several days.

My spider sense was still tingling so asked whether it’s definitely all back together and they said yes. They then asked whether I actually intend to drive the car. I said yes, and they replied with, well it might might not be that back together! Cue one hour wait for them to put it back together - at least it’s the tech who works on all my cars and I trust. The Tech was equally baffled and frustrated.

The car is back. I arrived home 5 minutes before my detailer. It looks great and I’ll use tomorrow. Very frustrating. I can’t help but think that if you don’t need a courtesy car then you get bumped. Back again next week for them to fit the blooming part. I will ask them to service it at the same time and will be asking for a discount! Waiting for them to tell me it’s not covered by warranty next…

Rant over. I feel much better.

B-Dazz doesn’t do rants, but if he did, they’d be the best rants,,,,,, In The World!

Cam solenoid pig tails arrived. Fitted today so hopefully the risk of oil wicking up the loom and into the ECU reduced.
Zip tied the extended loom to the engine lifting eyes.

You really need to trim off the ends of those Tyraps. If you catch your hands on them they're surprisingly vicious.
😖

How did they expect you to collect it and not drive it? Levitation?:dk:

Words failed me.

Unfortunately the fantastic service advisor got promoted. Fortunately I have a great relationship with the workshop foreman and AMG technician.

Started cleaning it up ready for the Beaulieu meet this weekend. It wasn't too bad to start with but had been a bit neglected so gave it a little bit of a TLC and I'm quite pleased with the results :)

A little more to do yet but I've got the best part done now. Just hoping that the weather stays fine on the trip down.

Not done a great deal recently, drove to a mates today to help replace the uj joints on a land rover prop, then drive home! Such an exciting life I live 😁😁

I’ve seen new pins that are dirtier than that Dave 👌🏻

Weather is supposed to be very good Friday though to Monday down here Dave, so it shouldn't all go to pot. See you Sunday.

I drove through SLK to work, top down this morning. Almost makes going in (and not WFH) worth it.

Plus I got to have a look around my bosses new to him 2019 c300d estate. It's rather nice I have to say.
Mind you, it plays second fiddle to his 911 GT3.....
