What Have You Done To Your Merc Today?

Unfortunately I didn't have a CTEK jump start pack in this car, but I do keep a CTEK charger in cars which we use a lot
Another CTEK CS FREE (jump start pack) and case mow ordered, and should arrive tomorrow.

Put dipetane in with every fill.
Thanks. I'd never heard of this stuff so looked it up. It says nothing about encouraging dpf clean. My car runs very well FSH by MB and less than 24k miles and I've had it from new. Since leaving works years ago early retirement we rarely take this car on longer runs and this is why I put the dpf additive in today and gave it a good run

It's mentioned on the bottle TBF. Now you've encouraged a clean might be a good time to begin.

Funnily I saw that for sale in Halfords today.... never seen or heard of it before then.

Tried it on the Mondeo, does nothing to that car except make fuel consumption WORSE! Stopped using it now which is a shame as I still have about 3L left 😡

What was your aim in using it ?

Better fuel economy, as advertised.

For me it's about keeping a diesel system cleaner , Inc egr , dpf , manifolds , etc . I only get 28 to 32 mpg , tootling about anyways ,so I can't comment on mpg figures , mine are unchanged , plus we're on winter diesel and mpg always drop. I don't think there is a product on the market that will up mpg outright , you may see an increase in mpg from a car that was running poorly before using it ,once things begin to clean up ???? Even then it only states upto 10% on the bottle. So could be as low as 1% impact on mpg figures.

Did you put it in a petrol or diesel , you didn't say .

Diesel, all my mileage and fuel is logged religiously and I do the same run every day at the same times so I can easily tell when my fuel use deteriorates.

Shame you bought so much ,before trialling it first.

I agree, but to my defense there is a lot of internet traffic saying that it does work. It's only money.......

That's true , my old man used to say , it says mars bars on the sides of buses , but they don't sell em .

"lots of internet traffic saying its good.."

A word of caution just in case you've not noted it or others. I've found at times, even glowing reviews can be misleading.
I've noted at times the reviews may not be about the product itself but how quickly they got served at the shop, how quickly item arrived, the packing, the price etc etc. As this item makes many claims in one, personally I'd be a bit suspicious. The one I used is for DPF only.

About mpg - there was the tv car show '5th Gears' test on products that claim x/y and z - the results were not glowing. However, there were advantages on very old, much higher mileage cars eg, 70/80k plus. Mine has only done sub 24k miles and FSH by MB. I bought the dpf cleaner for just that and the car seems to smoke, and activate the regen sooner, so for me it works - its Wynns dpf cleaner. The test of time will tell if it really works or just a temp measure. and I need a bottle of the stuff every other tank full. i used the cleaner as the majority, vast majority of drives are now sub one mile each way.

Edit. Just found this and it's almost saying what I said - eg, it depends on age/mileage of car, what fuel you use, how you drive etc etc

If you'd jogged to the gym you could have brought that date forward by a couple of days. ;)

Rotated the trickle chargers and checked& & adjusted the tyre pressures. A few more to do tomorrow.

Drove to work.....I was not expecting to go in until the new years.....but an ill staff member changed that....only today though and only 10 til 4.

changed battery on key to get the global opening and closing back on track.
