What Have You Done To Your Merc Today?

Picked a mate up and took him for breakfast, car back in garage now and still filthy........ ☹️

Drove it to work....threw a bucket of water over it. Replaced both number plates.....nothing really wrong with old ones except they looked cheap, were starting to show their age and I like ones with the black edge pinstripe. Freshened up the old girl a bit. We have our own plate machine at work...so easy enough to do.

New spark plugs, oil and filter, air filters and cabin filter for the E500. Reset the dashboard A Service countdown. Will lubricate the sunroof once I've found out which bits to lubricate. Brake fluid isn't due yet, so will probably leave that until I next do the discs and pads.

We had a car serviced on Friday, and I was up and out early (for a day off work) for a trip back to the same main dealer for another car to be serviced.

As they took it into the workshop I had one of those moments when you hear someone else start the engine - and see someone else driving your car, - and think “corrrr”. Even after 18 years I still love the way it looks and sounds.
I had another of those moments when I heard the technician fire it up, so I was straight over to the window to watch it rumble past. It’s a blooming loud car though so I also heard the technician take it on a 3 mile test drive!

B-Service and brake fluid changed, and all good for another year. I say that, it’s the third time u’be had it serviced in 15 months! They made sure all of the drain holes were clear and applied Krytox to all of the seals to keep them fresh.

The car theme continues as it was Baby D’e 16 birthday last week so we’ve filled the car with his school mates and taken them karting. I’m shivering waiting for them to finish. Last session almost finished, so dinner soon!

Today I took a step closer to fitting a factory reversing camera to my 2010 S212. So far I've picked up the camera (A207 820 08 97) and the control module (A212 827 00 08), and yesterday the tailgate trim piece with the camera cutout arrived (A212 740 01 00). I was surprised to find that the camera doesn't just snap in - I thought the cameras were all the same, but maybe the A207 version I've got is different from the S212 version after all.

No matter, my 3D printer is perfect for this sort of problem. It took a few iterations, but I made an adapter that clips into the trim piece and into which the camera clips.

I just need to get the wiring harnesses now. I believe A204 440 48 08 will connect the camera to the control module, but I'm not yet sure what the part number is for the harness between the control module and the head unit - I don't know for sure whether the W212 harness is the same as the S212 harness - it would be annoying if the estate body requires a longer wiring harness for example.

Very nice!!

I bought this C55 AMG yesterday and today I done an oil change so I could drive it for a couple of days before I do a full service and change all the fluids. I gave it some and I must say, I was very impressed! It pulls so hard. I like how responsive it is. Not the quickest thing out there but for such a small saloon with a big V8, it’s makes it an attractive car. Most people have no idea it’s a V8.

I also increased the speed limiter today to 280kph and activated the computer to show how many litres of fuel the car has…. Well I say I but it was actually my friend that done these last two bits

Finally put the 17" winter wheels on, ready for the cold snap that's approaching/arrived.

Unfortunately I think I need new rear summer tyres for both W212s, as well as a pair of winter tyres (plenty of tread left but a pair of them are quite old now). A nice £1200 problem waiting for me in the spring!

Add a wheel refurb on top of that...

I love C55's and seriously thought about getting one to replace my 2nd C43. But got distracted by an E500...

I love the fuel readout - really useful and in gallons too!

Yesterday, I again tackled the slow leak from the front OS tyre; this was my third trip to the tyre place and this time (finally) we could see air leaking (extremely slowly) from the valve. Had them replace the valve and clean up the inside of the rim while they were at it.

This was to get the car ready for a trip to Dorset for my wife's course.......which she ended up joining by Zoom because of the shitty weather.

Oh well, the car's fixed and I'll get a chicken roasted for me later

Wandered into the garage to get a couple of bits. Looked at the car and thought, as it's not been run for a while, I'll give it a quick start and run up and down the drive, being careful to avoid the wet snowy stuff.

Got the bits I needed and shut the garage door while I did the job I had planned. This was my first mistake as the door wouldn't open again. It now goes up around a foot or so, whereupon the motor starts to buzz. I went in through the security door and tried the emergency handle which also refused to budge so something is obviously jamming it. I've now decided that today would not be a good time to run a petrol car for up to an hour with little or no ventilation.

Garage door person emailed and I'm now patiently waiting for him to reply, hopefully early next week.

Where did you source your Mudguards from?🤔

And was it a "Wheels Off Job"? 🫣

eBay . Just the rears on my glc .

Got them within 2 days . Do you want the seller info .?
