What Have You Done To Your Merc Today?

Just taxed it though it doesn't start until tomorrow. Not a problem really, I've waited 6 months so another day will be fine and it'll give me a chance to finish the clean up as pictured below.

6 months for £330 or 12 months for £395 which seemed like a no brainer really so it's now got 12 months on it. I'm assuming that it's due to the Government surcharge thing expiring, as the car will be 6 years old in October.

Just a bit more to do and it's ready for a fuel run in the morning. :)

What a beast.

Are you doing a bit of paint correction there?

Cheers, yeah, had a multitude of little scratches in the paint after the car standing for a few months.

Posted about it earlier HERE though as this is a fast moving thread, posts do tend to get lost in it. :(

Aha - missed that post. And I completely forgot you had the car.

WRT to scratches, I always cringe when I see people putting things on cars and then dragging them off - bags, coats, whatever.

Guaranteed to score the clear coat.

Amazing reflection in yours.

Not much until just after 1900 this evening when Mrs D and I took one for a little top-down drive to celebrate the light nights since clocks changed.

In recent times, technology is often frowned upon in cars, however when it’s done right the difference it can make in driving experience is marked.

The car we took this evening has four standard modes, and the difference in character between the first (softest) and third is amazing.

It goes from charming and relaxed boulevard (or contentment) cruiser to doing a rather good impression of a track beast unleashed.

Being able to go from one extreme to the other - so completely and authentically - is a genuine miracle of modern motoring, and makes this car even better.

Checking over the S204 in readiness for it's MOT tomorrow. Pray for me.....

(Sue's Kia in the day after too :()
S204 - Passed! Three advisories (the ball joint was replaced less than a year ago - like most places the gutter side of the road I have to use most is akin to a cart track, so not surprised it is on it's way out again!) Pretty sure both rear tyres were replaced in the last year, so will need to look into that a bit more
  • Nearside Front Lower Suspension arm ball joint has slight play rear arm advise replacing (5.3.4 (a) (i))
  • Nearside Rear Tyre slightly damaged/cracking or perishing deep splits in inner wall advise replacing (5.2.3 (d) (ii))
  • Offside Rear Tyre slightly damaged/cracking or perishing deep splits in inner wall advise replacing (5.2.3 (d) (ii))
Just the Kia to go tomorrow. Thanks for all your prayers - again the Power of the Forum!

Took it on a drive to Glasgow & back with Mrs Ant beside me. Beautiful sunny blue sky day and a lovely lunch on the way home. Car was as fab and enjoyable as our C Class estate if not more so.

All in all a great day. Almost forgot it’s Tuesday. 🥳
Skiver :D

Drove it today eventually.

Only down to my local fuel station but at least it's been out of the garage and on a road for the first time in over six months. It was initially going to be this morning's entertainment but I had a couple of jobs to do with my truck which had to take priority.

I'll be trying to get the Merc back out a bit more in the next few weeks now it's cleaned up and polished, it feels so much more civilised than a 55 year old American pickup somehow, not as challenging though... :D
