What Have You Done To Your Merc Today?

It’s been a car themed day today.

Baby D and I are taking our SLK somewhere a bit special tomorrow - and it will be on display - so I’ve had it throughly detailed, including a quick zhuzh of the engine bay.

I’m taking my detailer with me too, no not like an entourage but as a thank you for looking after our cars - especially before events - but he never gets to go to those events.

It dawned on me that I hadn’t fitted a dashcam to the SLK, so this evening I’ve installed a BlackVue 750X, the last of a batch I bought for because they have been superseded.

Up early in the morning 💤

How are you going to fit you, baby D and your detailer in your SLK 🤔

Enjoy Silverstone slim.

Good job you're leaving in the dark; once the sunlight starts bouncing off that shiny bodywork, you'll be Dazzling every other driver in a 5 mile radius.
Have an awesome day and remember

Our SLK was invited to be displayed on a show stand at an event at Silverstone today with the theme “Stand Out Spec”, and it’s parked in prime position outside of Lamborghini hospitality. We arrive just after 0700 so it feels like lunch CG time already!

Finally got the rear bumper sorted - if you recall, somebody reversed into it in a supermarket carpark and I traced them via a DVLA request. They sent me £250 rather than get insurance involved.

Anyway, the bodyshop (old-school scruffy unit on an industrial estate) did a brilliant job on respraying the whole bumper, only charged me £200 and even washed the car! So, all sorted and £50 up!

Ok....so I noticed that just once in a while I get a spot of oil on the ground where I park...tiny patches but annoying....nearly as annoying as having to remove loads of bolts that hold all the plastic on under my motor whenever I want to looks at stuff! Anyway after work today I jacked her up and removed the front cover for a look see. It was actually leaking from two places. First was the lower NS intercooler pipe.... which was annoying as I replaced the intercooler pipe seals not long ago.....so I cleaned up that seal, applied a little sealant to it and refitted...just to be sure I ran some around the outside too....putting too much just inside might mean I never get it off!
The second place was the intercooler piping on the front upper OS of the engine. I can see where it's coming from...but did not have time to remove the aux belt protection plate to gain proper access....might need to remove the fan too. I'll do it in Friday and it will be a good excuse to clean out the EGR pipes and the shutter/anti shudder valve at the same time.
Tips from anyone that's done it and most likely oil leak points much appreciated. Cheers and good night!
