Fitted stainless steel number plate surrounds and plates with no screw holes. I think it looks rather good.

That was the hardest part of the job, I used weed blocks and did it but by bit then put the axle stands under the rear suspension.

They look pretty good buddy , I’ve been thinking of putting number plate holders on both cars , I was thinking black plastic for the fronts because of my black plastic number plate backing .
For the rears , those stainless holders might work well on the rears because both cars have stainless parts near the plate . Food for thought
How do the plates fix into the holders ?

How do the plates fix into the holders ?

The holders have 4 tabs to hold the plate but I preferred to use double sided tape as I didn't want to see the tabs

A gentle start to Mercedes ownership for me today; a set of led bulbs fitted to replace the factory fit halogens in the boot, boot lid and glove box lamp units in my C200 Cabriolet. I think the white led light cast makes for a great upgrade.

Wish I could find a way to stop my OH touching anything when she's in the passenger seat - I have buttons on the wheel to do what needs doing, or know where the requried buttons are for things I can't do from the wheel. In younger days, as passenger to my Dad, if I'd tried to touch ANY of the controls I'd have got a slap, but the aftermath of trying that with SWMBO does not bear thinking about!

Next step, get a pair of LED W16W's to replace the reversing lamps, then take the current 16W halogens and, by some creative thinking, replace the W5W halogens in the front footwells with the 16W halogens you've just removed from the reversing lamps! Takes a bit of fiddling and creative thought, but worthwhile!

This the really daft thing tho’; the car has the full intelligent led pack, led main beam assist plus and adaptive led rear lamps, yet MB then fit old fashioned halogen bulbs inside the car! Penny pinching gone mad do we think?

Took the Scoop out yesterday. Only to an ATM as I needed some cash for a job which is happening today but it was the first proper run it's had since last October.

Normally I'd have just gone in the Lexus which is by the front door and pointing at the road but it's currently on a charger getting it prepared for a service next week, so the Mercedes was picked instead.

I didn't make a meal of it as such, though did have a substantial drive round to find a working machine, which had the desired effect of getting all fluids up to temperature and circulating as they should. It made me realise what I've been missing having been so restricted in the last few months. Roll on summer.

Fitted a Bluetooth module into my w209 clk. now my phone connects to it automatically and I can play my music from any Bluetooth device I have. Really a game changer in older cars

Long post but it might help someone.

I’ve taken a car for an MOT or service every day since Tuesday, and today was no exception. Turned out to be eventful.

We travelled in convoy, four-up plus our dog, so that we could shoot straight off and get some breakfast and coffee.

Unfortunately 100m from the entrance, the car not being serviced went into limp-home mode, and crawled the final 100m.

Restarted it on the car park and it roared back into life and the warning

light was . They’ve kept it for a closer look.

So we had to hang around around for a couple of hours - including the dog - in the dealership as we were now without a car.

The people in the dealership were great though. They did a quick scan with STAR, and allowed the dog inside. Brilliant.

I asked the tech to remove and retorque the alloy wheel locking bolts, anticipating that they had been over-tightened.

Sure enough the key sheared, and they had a go at removing it but after 30 minutes they suggested I take it to a specialist.

They didn’t even charge for their time either, despite being <2/3 of the price of my usual main dealer. Great price and service.

The first place I called was 30 minutes away and could remove the now damaged locking nut for £40 while I wait, and today.

I shot straight over and was amazed by how an expert can make something very very difficult look very very easy.

It was a spotless old-school workshop, with a lovely guy who does nothing but remove locking wheel nuts, just for fun.

He had it out within 90 seconds of statrting without even marking the wheel. He then removed and retorqued every bolt.

I was absolutely delighted. He deserved much more than £40 he charges, so that’s what exactly he got. Great value.

So a roller coaster of a day, but great service from the main dealer and a fantastic experience from an oldschool workshop.

It’s such a shame that there aren’t more workshops like that. It was an absolute pleasure to see and experience.

So if you need someone to remove a damaged or overtigtened locking wheel nut, then look no further.

Children giving me grief that have not washed mum's car. Prewash pictures from just before midday and then washed/polished pictures at 4:30pm.

So decided to wash/polish it and take off the winter wheels and replace with some "old" wheels that I refurbished whilst bored in lockdown.

Took me 4 solid hours. Plan to finish it tomorrow, as a couple of bits that I am not happy with.
