What Have You Done To Your Merc Today?

How did you achieve your "easy fix" please Alf' ?
This stuff....its amazing stuff.... used it many times... never had a fail. Just make sure the surface is spotless and grease free...rough up with course emery and clean again. Leave 24 before driving to fully cure. With a bigger hole than I has try and get as much inside as possible.

Released my SLK from her winter hibernation (in garage on battery conditioner since December) and had a short roof down drive ready for proper use tomorrow - lovely to be driving a fun car again, without SWMBO tearing the sides out of the passenger seat with her finger nails, so much more fun than driving the s204!!

Up and out early with Baby D, to go and collect my Dad and take him to Donington Park to watch some motor racing 🏎️

The sky was blue and sunny when we left at 0700 this morning so I naturally wore shorts, shirt and took a gilet with me 🏝️

However we got to my parents early so we had time to switch to a car we have kept at our other house and I forgot to transfer the gilet 🤦🏼‍♂️

There was a biting wind and in the shade it was properly cold. I almost had to buy this branded merc from the shop there to keep warm! 🥶

We were guests of Radical Motorsport so they spoiled us with wonderful hospitality, including a legendary Garage 39 breakfast 😋

We’ve done a couple of hundred miles on B roads travelling back and forth, and this car is an absolute pleasure to do it in 👌🏻

Trying to change r/h side cornering light on the SLK

Have drawn blood

The cap will not twist off (neither side!)
One more go then may have to admit defeat and give it to Halfords....
Well WD40 did it's job, though my fingers are still numb from applying pressure, lots of pressure.

H7 bulb changed but the error message is still there!

Have cycled the car, driven it and read the codes on my iCarsoft which does report a fault due to an open circuit

I will be phoning the warranty company Monday to discuss.....

Bugga!

Replaced both air filters....and, at last, found the leak in the aircon system. Ive not had working AC since i boight the car. Was in the lower rear of the condenser......At some point someone fitted a replacement after market trans cooler....but they left a jubilee clip the wrong way so it wore though one of the tubes...it was a tiny hole so easy to fix. I've pressurised the system to about 50 with some nitrous I had hanging about....if it holds the pressure for a fortnight I'll get it refilled properly. Now I seem to have a small coolant leak to sort out.....it never rains....

Lovely clean air filters, love them! Speaking of which, do you know how do I open my air box on my E250?
Gave the car another wash, Saharan dust has already started near Heathrow!

I ended up working pretty late on Friday so got nothing done.

Yesterday I managed to hand wash it. Then I cleaned out some of the gunk in the rear hatch opening area - satisfying and years overdue. And I got the last of the brown sludgy stuff out of the corners of the scuttle cover so I can give it a proper coat of trim restorer.

Then I had to down tools and drive my daughter to Hampstead. Not that I'm complaining; it was a beautiful day and Hampstead is one of my favourite places. Topped off by a sneaky pint in one of the lovely pubs.

156 ;)

Ordered Lemforder front control arms. The lower steel ones were done about 40k back, got the shudder under braking issue so am well prepared for whatever the problem is. New rod ends are on the shelf too. Spanners🔧 at the ready

Just taxed it though it doesn't start until tomorrow. Not a problem really, I've waited 6 months so another day will be fine and it'll give me a chance to finish the clean up as pictured below.

6 months for £330 or 12 months for £395 which seemed like a no brainer really so it's now got 12 months on it. I'm assuming that it's due to the Government surcharge thing expiring, as the car will be 6 years old in October.

Just a bit more to do and it's ready for a fuel run in the morning. :)

Good on you Dave, a little blast to clear those cobwebs out.
