What Merc engine in Chrysler 300C?

The loaded 300C will be £27,000
Hi smillion,
I was getting concerned over all the negative posts. You are ordering a car you like, a car that you will enjoy driving. Well done and PLEASE post pictures when you have the time.

Happy motoring,
John

Actually John, in the main, the responsde has been better than I expected. The links to the Times On Line articles are very +'ve.

The daimlerchrysler website is less than complementary about Chysler et al, but then that's not why its there. There is some useful info on the site about the 300C but overall nothing that causes me concern. part of being on the forum is to get a balanced view.

S240sporst kindly posted a link about drivethedeal, but it turns out thats for February delivery - which might suit some and is very valuable.

Thanks again

Smillion

I agree depreciation will be higher than the Merc; having said that the diesel is very very popular and for the first time ever Chrysler dealers are having to quote 3-4 month delivery times.

Waiting list might be because all RHD 300Cs are built at Magna Steyr's factory in Graz, Austria rather than the USA?? It just won JD POWER SURVEY AWARD for the best car manufacturing plant in 2006.

I for one like the car. The interior is not to my taste and it is too small in the (estate) boot; but value for money wise I don't think it can be beaten.

Ultimately it was the wife who said no!

I agree. Really one of the most interesting and arresting looking cars for years. For those who haven't time to read the full Sunday Times review by Andrew Frankel here's his conclusion: -

"But I’ve not even mentioned the best bit. Buy a Mercedes E-class estate with this engine in it and it’ll cost you over £10,000 more. The 300C Touring is £27,275. Of course, the Mercedes is a little better in most areas than the 300C but it looks a whole lot worse. I can see a cult forming around the 300C Touring — a small, brave band of buyers rebelling against executive estate establishment. Sadly, its lack of snob value will keep it from the mainstream sales it really deserves — were this car called a Mercedes they would queue down the street for it."

There have been a few 300Cs at Merc Direct, just a few months old and fully specc'd. The one I saw at Balsall Common was an ex-Merc management car 9 weeks old - the Merc management cars are registered to the employee (i.e. a private individual on the V5) and bought back from them at pre-agreed terms.

Worth a visit and striking a deal even if just to use to help drive down the quote for a new one?

the black ones look real bad-ass (which I like but would not have) from the outside and too american on the inside for me. As they are very imposing I couldn't imagine making many friends if it were driven "enthusiastically" nor rejoining the crowd which I like about my own car.

They also need chrome spinners on the wheels and a 95% tint to complete the look....plus 50Cent on the stereo with the sunroof open.

Totally agree! :D Bad ass!

I'm a big fan of the 300's. Been subjected to them for a couple of months now in the USA and I would still like to get my hands on one. Most people who've driven one seem complimentary of them.

I also have a soft spot for these now:

Will it fit into my Smart Car. ??
