What was the first car you drove and what car did you officially lean to drive in?

My first car on which I unofficially learnt to drive was a 1952 Ford Anglia, model E93A.
It had a 3 speed gearbox, trafficator arms to indicate the direction of turning and no heater.

The first vehicle I drove was a tractor on my uncle's farm. I was about 9 years old then.

The driving school through which I later took my test had 1959 Austin A40s, pininfarina hatchback style.

First car I "learned" to drive in was my dads 1965 Wolseley 16/60 when I was 10 or 11. Car I passed test in was a 1982 Puegeot 305.

Driving lessons and test in a Mk1 Nissan Micra ...yuk!

1st car Mk11 Ford Escort 1300 sport....practiced in this before I passed my test and immediately bought a Mk111 Escort...before moving through the XR range...:D

12 driving lessons, past test in MK1 ford escort new then, then presented with bedford HA van(company owned) at 18yrs old,oh for those friday evening monday morning fill ups again,no one batted an eyelid either, just wry smiles.

Driving lessons in a Datsun Cherry and mums Saab.
First car BMW 2002Tii:cool:

First steered a car, sitting on my Father's knee - summer 1955, aged five - on what was a grass aerodrome near Dornoch.

Post-war Standard 12 - c40bhp exactly like this.

At 15 years old, taught myself to drive by taking his car and driving around Edinburgh and surrounding countryside. I really thought he didn't notice the increase in mileage and the reduction of fuel in the tank

1952 Standard Vanguard - 68bhp exactly like this, reg JSG818 which of course in on my C124.

Passed my test three years later in an Austin 1100.

The first car I drove (on private land) was my parents Morris minor when I was about 11 and I passed my test in a BSM Metro in 1982.

The first car I drove, well more realistically moved away in, was a Wolseley 15/60. I think that was it's title, the car I learned to drive and passed my test in was a Ford Cortina!

First car I drove in 1991 1st January, I was 11. Green Lada 2106

A 1996 Peugeot 106 'Aztec' Learner Driver car, even though it was the 1st car I had ever driven, I knew it was crap.

First drive would have been my step-grandfather's DAF 33 (CVT transmission) round Bisley Camp in Surrey, when I was about 9 or 10. A few years later I was allowed to drive my grandmother's Mini round a disused aerodrome close to their house in Nottinghamshire.

I had a few driving lessons while at school (Datsun Cherry, IIRC) but carried on in my mum's Fiat 126, which is what I passed my test in.

Nissan Sunny as a learner, and a Ford cortina as a first car!

First drove in a ford escort.
Took lessons in a 2003 nissan micra- very nasty. It had a sport button but it didn't do anything except turn a light on.
First car after passing was a 1995 Lexus GS300

Learnt to drive in a FIAT 131 (rear drive fun), then after 8 years of not needing/affording a car I took my test in an instructor's japanese somethingorotheridontremember (it was that insipid).

First vehicle I drove was my mum's 405 GRD. 1.9 diesel, no turbo, no power steering.

My first car, Fiat Punto 55S. Keep the revs up, don't back off.

Austalian import beige Ford Fairmont, BSM Metro...not sure which was worse

1967 Riley Elf. Passed test in Volvo 145. The Volvo was incredibly easy to drive. Despite its size it had an amazingly tight turning circle for 3 point turns, reversing round corner etc.

First drive was in an Escort, then 4 lessons in a Mini followed by numerous drives then a test in a Fird Escort van. Nearly failed after learning to perfect the nearside reversing round a corner the the examiner asked me to do an offside reverse around a corner!

A Massey ferguson when I was 10. Learned in an A40 Farina but can't remember what I passed my test in. Bike was a BSA C12 best part of half a century ago.
