Why do some AMG owners drive like knobs?

The XF R and the lambo engined S8 are serious itches of mine at the moment. If the E55 wasn't such a great car, I would be in one or th other.

It is one of my regrets that I never owned one of the X350 XJ, I did try and replace my W220 with one but the timing was poor.

I suppose that they are a bit old now for regular use.

Perhaps 'other makes' are different , but I've driven my R129 almost every day since getting it in May , and am just a few hundred miles short of having racked up 10,000 miles in it , most of them with the top down ! ( I just put the hard top on for the winter a couple of weeks back , when I was over at my mum's where I store it in her empty garage , since the soft top was dry to put away - now we've had another Indian summer I'm regretting it . ) This morning so far I've done 140 miles up to Forfar and back to Dundee , the car doesn't miss a beat . Neither did my 190 when I used it last year , or my W126 which ran faultlessly for the five years I had it .

I don't think a Mercedes can ever be too old for daily use ; but then I also ran my Ponton as a daily car for the first 10 or so years I had it .

You are right, I probably could use an older car under my present circumstances. When I was looking I was still doing 50k miles a year and that model was just about new enough to handle it without me worrying. Now my mileage has drastically reduced but I'm still in the big miles mindset, however, I do run my cars down to France and Spain twice a year so a real old clunker wouldn't work.

If my mileage stays this low I will probably look to swap the W211 for something like a 3 series estate petrol or equivalent c class at some point. That makes me feel old, I'll have to make sure that I go for at least 6 cylinders!

Yes, I share your itch there and have a similar dilemma.

Why are E55Ks so bl00dy good!

Had an X350 XJ8 Sport for two years. Fantastic car. Old fashioned looks, but build quality was fantastic... way better than my SL... different league to be frank! Loved wafting a long in total silence and supreme comfort. Should never have sold it! Made up to 2008/9 so plenty young enough!
