Merry Xmas all. I've had my CLK for two weeks and so far I couldn't be more thrilled. If this continues I'd gladly have another MB.

None taken! I've been 60 plus for nearly ten years now and still find myself explaining Mercedes tech to many whippersnappers in here!HB said:I agree John. I was driving the new 7 series a couple of weeks ago. This along with the sclass has so much tech it's unreal. The sales guy agreed. He said the the actual market who buys these , typical 60 plus, don't have a friggin clue about anything in it.
The new E Class is to be the most technologically advanced car ever made (reportedly).
Let's hope so.
I'd sacrifice some of the tech for a super quick gearchange, some more aggressive styling on the AMG and four wheel drive over here .
You are the exception ! But seriously the level of tech can be very distracting.None taken! I've been 60 plus for nearly ten years now and still find myself explaining Mercedes tech to many whippersnappers in here!
I've had two Jags and three Mercs, with the Mercs being way more reliable (perhaps because they're newer, but then that dispels the theory of "they don't make them like they used to"). Yes, I'd have another one - unless something even better is around at the time.cb1965 said:The lament of many an R230 owner - doubt there's many crazy enough to have more than one I'd have another Merc as it's a case of never say never, but they are not as good as the image the brand seems to have in the psyche of most. In my experience of 2 Mercs and 2 Jags the Jags were vastly superior cars in terms of ride, comfort and reliability! That said maybe it was just luck with the Jags and bad luck with the Mercs... back to Jag for me though.

Jags... hmmm. Not lighting my fire. Perhaps it's my premier league football manager neighbour and his XK that puts me off. Mind you, bring out a retro styled XJC equivalent and I'd probably be first in the queue.
Were I to change, it would probably be for an S Class.
I think I would buy another Merc but I'm not sure which model. Maybe a W221 or W222 S-class once second hand prices are reasonable. Or perhaps another immaculate W220?
Hope everyone enjoyed / are enjoying the festivities!
I have been thinking about a W221 for a while now (well, since July: http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/general-discussion/194905-w221s.html).
Some nice examples around at the moment.
I'm finding it difficult to want to get rid of the E55 but I am coming up to 5 years ownership in March and I suppose I have well and truly done it now.
Yes fair comment, but I stopped worrying about the image of a brand a while back... let's face it I would never have bought a Merc having read this forum if I was worried about image
Love the X350 XJs and the later XKRs, the latter of which will be my next car I suspect.
Nice! Which W221 model would you go for?
If you go for the S320CDI then be careful because there are engine problems with some early ones...prior to 2008, if I remember correctly. After that they fixed the problem.
I've heard the S350CDI isn't very reliable either.
I want an S500 really, I think.
