Would you buy another Merc ?

Just been looking today as it happens - this one is a great specification but shame about the engine!

Mercedes-Benz S Class 3.0 S350 CDI BlueTEC 7G-Tronic 4dr

Nice, these cars are such good value for money. I test drove the 350 and 500 when I was looking I could lived with the 350 but the 500 was the better car. In the end I decided I couldn't risk any breakdown issues on my daily driver so ordered a new Golf with 3 year maintenance plan and warranty and bought the R8

I will never have anything else ( with the possible exception of Volkswagen ) but won't go newer than W201/124/129/126 ( just possibly 140 ) .

Errrrrrrrrr I went in an SLS today and well... My next car will be an MB!!! I'll have great satisfaction in looking like a pillock getting in and out :D

Hehe. Yes. A good few years ago my dream car was a Lotus Elise/Exige. But now I'm not as bendy as I was back then I'm not sure it's still on the cards.

Wonder if Lotus could lift the car up for me like Merc has done with C Class - GLC? :dk:

Ant. :D

Without doubt the worst wheels I've ever seen on an s class

No, they aren't my preferred wheels but I don't find them offensive either.

Yes, that concerns me.

I know my car inside out and it has been a pillar of reliability.

I'd kick myself if I changed to something like that silver one only to find it is unreliably.

I suppose that's why I've considered the LS460 / LS600h options.

I've had a few and yes I would buy another. MB has look after me over the years. I think I need to grow up a bit with my next car so will likely be an S Coupe.

Er... isn't that an old Hyundai? :D

It was the old vs New argument. If I had bought the Lexus it would have cost £20k ish. Then did I really need a big car now we had a 4x4 in the fleet? Then got offered a deal from VW which was just over the price of the Lexus after discount but with 3 years full maintenance and 3 years warranty for a 300 bhp Golf. Totally different car I know but most of the time my car is on a train station or airport car park or on my drive as this year I have spent half of it out of the UK. I also thought run the golf for 3 years then hand down to my daughter whilst I run the R8 as a daily driver hopefully in retirement.

Bit of a long winded explanation but that was my final thought process and should also mention I get a very generous car allowance in lieu of company car

I've been very happy with all my E55 estates so far; the way they go when you press the loud pedal is something else...

I'd buy another one, though my ideal car would be a post-2006 version but with the 55K engine.

The jury's still out on the R129; I'm waiting for the summer, when I can put the hood down. I hope I'm not expecting too much; driving a convertible, I shall be disappointed if what Clarkson would call my gentleman's sausage doesn't grow by 50%, most of my hair doesn't grow back and nubile frails don't throw themselves at me in droves...

I'm on my 7th MB and will definately get another. Despite their flaws at times, there's something about them I find hard to resist! :D

Apart from my R107, which I will probably keep a good long while yet, I doubt I will buy another MB in the foreseeable future. Had 4 in a row following a disastrous Beemer 5 Series and 4 exceptionally good Audis, but next daily will either be a Tesla or an A6.
The Lotus won't be going any time soon either as that is my all time favourite (and surprisingly reliable) of all the cars I've owned.:D

I keep looking at W202's.

The model we had was our first Merc and my wife loved it. If I could find a very good one for around 1500 to 2000 grand I would get shot of the Jaaaag..

Had a baby and bought my first merc, gota say what a good car..loads of power, loads of luxury, what more do you want. A merc in the future again is a definite possibility.

New Owner Looking Out

Hello All

I am a defector from BMW who after 5 since 1999 have moved to a C350e mainly for tax reasons

It seems to be a great car but I am amazed that MB have apparently fallen into the realms of lower marques in telling lies about capacity.

My main gripe in the power pack not even having the potential to provide the claimed range. Regardless of usage and load rates.

At full charge the max cell capacity I have seen is 13 miles this obviously once you operate in the real world becomes a realistic 8-9

Such a shame unless I have a German "lemon"

Anyone else having this being lied to experience?

There is a thread or two on the 350e and general consensus does seem to be that the claims on range are ambitious

But there isn't a car around that does what is says in the tin and in the last 10 years so most have woken up / accepted that

I wonder if there will be firmware updates that will improve deployment of the charge as the tech and knowledge improves?

Once I am done with the v6 itch I am currently scratching with the CLK no doubt a hybrid will be on the cards

I thought about a Jaguar XK 8 but I don't know enough about them, plus what I could afford are a bit too expensive.

3 months in with my first MB and so far so good, Swmbo even considering a GLA when her car is up for renewal.

Will have my first experience of a MB service dept shortly with a free winter healthcheck so could all change.
