Would you buy another Merc ?

I don't think I will get another Merc unless there's some aggressive promo. I will wait until next facelift as I don't like current interior, it puts me off totally. I could consider new E-class maybe, well priced of course.

Well I have an e class on order so it has to be yes!

Only got our C250d (our fourth Mercedes; A150, SLK200, C220d Coupe, C250d Estate),a few weeks ago. Not planning on buying another car for a few years now. Changing cars is an expensive hobby!

We had problems with micro-blistering on our Fire Opal Red C220d Coupe, which is one of the reasons we traded it in against our current car. Beyond that, we've had trouble free and enjoyable motoring for over ten-years from these cars. Buying from our dealer has always been pretty painless beyond the obvious financial hit associated with buying cars. We had lots of fun in our SLK and through the SLKworld forum met some great people who have become real friends.

So would I buy another Mercedes? When it's time to change our VW Golf (in no rush to do that at the moment), then for sure I would consider Mercedes. Would also consider all of the usual suspects.

Had my W09 CLK from new (2003) apart from a few stone chips not a bit of rust on her, cleaned with washing up liquid all its life and still looks good.
Not even had to replace a lamp yet, so yes would buy again.

I have had three before this one and will likely have one after this whenever that may be.

I purchased my new GLC 250D Coupe AMG Line Premium in January, I've been with Audi for years and decided it was time for a change. What a mistake, since purchasing this vehicle the tyres have been replaced for all weather tyres to mask the front wheels crabbing/sliding in full lock situations. I experience mysterious beeps which I thought may be telling me I have a mobile phone notification, I've proved this isn't the case, I just get these random beeps. The front wheel arch plastic liners are cheap rubbish and seem to rest on the wing lip and there's a gap allowing muck to get behind it. My wife has a Skoda Fabia and the arch liners on that are rock solid and the wing lip is enclosed in the liner somehow preventing stones causing paint chips to the lip resulting in eventual rust. Mercedes won't fit a towbar because my GLC has the foot sensor for opening the boot, the sensor is located where towbar fits. I've been informed that when a non Merc towbar is fitted the fitter will remove the sensor which is fine so why won't Merc do the same so that I can have a Merc towbar fitted. My wife and daughter tell me the windscreen is distorted, I can't see it neither can friends I've asked to take a look, I have no reason to disbelieve my wife and daughter as it's the first time either have mentioned windscreen distortion on any of the 20+ cars I've owned. Call Mercedes a premium brand, I don't think so, I can't wait to end my feted Mercedes experience and move back to Audi.....

Bought a 2008 W211. E320cdi Avantgarde four years ago, had only 25 k on the clock. Had never owned or even driven a MB until I went to collect it. Has been brilliant, other than a broken front Spring ( my fault, hit speed bump at speed!) . Decided we needed another 4x4 as E class too low down, so have just agree a trade in for an 07 ML 320 cdi Sport, one owner and only 42 k miles and 10 MB service stamps. Only downside will be the £520 road tax. Here's hoping the ML will be as reliable

They have just become well priced. Take a look at DrivetheDeal to see the discount on E Class !

I'm on my second Merc, I seem to be attracted to AMG's having tried various other cars my first the SL63 just eclipsed the two other high end cars I tried. I have to admit my second and current car was a bit of a compulsive, spur of the moment purchase as I still have the car it was going to replace and can't bring myself to sell it. So I have two barges taking up my drive.
I still have a liking for an SLS which would be my third but I just can't bring myself to pay the sort of money they go for, and I still kick myself for not buying one when they were £80K.

Older Benz, probable. Contemporary, highly unlikely.

I haven't bought one yet!!!

I joined here as I had ordered in 2014 an E350 AMG PP estate. But after 6 months waiting they admitted they screwed up the order.

I have looked again at Mercedes to replace the Golf but I'm hooked on the VW.... an R will probably follow.

I tried even to get my dad to but an E63 but he found them boring compared to the XFR he's bought....

However, if I can a GLS may replace the 535d next year if the Swedes don't get our cash first...

I would buy another, I'm on my third C63 atm and previous to that had BMW and Audi - not a brand fanboy of any particular marque but I must admit the whole AMG brand and ownership experience attracts me atm. Being a massive F1 fan, that also has a positive affect for me, oh and the V8 noise :)

Yes. I like the E350 a lot, but wish it had more space inside. I figured I should have bought the S350 so I will buy that next.

I suspect not I was thinking of buying the C350e but I am hearing horror stories and as these vehicles are 65 reg i think I will try another maker,I am keen to try something different so maybe a 4x4 ,the juries out.

I would lease one, but not going to commit and buy one. It applies to all my future cars of any brand unless it's collector's one.

When you buy it and something is wrong with it, you're f...ed. No service was able to fix different small issues with my last 3 Mercedes cars. So now I have to live with wind noise at driver's door even though I know it shouldn't be there. Replacing the car with the same one is not an option, huge loss on trade-in.

I have similar issue with Audi, but I don't care because I know I will just return it at the end of leasing term and it won't be my problem. Next owner can have his time fixing the car or chasing Audi to do it.

At the moment considering as next car: C350e salon, E-coupe, Volvo S90, Audi A8/S8, BMW7, Jaguar XF. All leasing and must be well priced. My list was much longer but my husband disqualified some cars due to their body shape. Of course, if there's really good promo on one of them, he will have to change his mind.

Well, I have had to. I'll buy another once I find what I want.
(S202 250TD with a sound shell and low mileage or S202 220CDI likewise.)
If you know where one is hiding, I'll coerce the owner into selling it to me using the ancient mercantile art of vorsprung durch chequebook

Not really, you just fix it. Cars are complex but they are a bunch of nuts and bolts after all.

But I appreciate it's boys stuff to get hands dirty so I can see your point.

BMW 7, A8, S90 stand out as the best from that list.

Try the new E class, the 9 speed gearbox is incredible.

I know this is an old thread and I've posted before but obviously things have changed since then. I obviously knew it was the beginning of the end for my E55 for a while before I binned it.

I can remember thinking I would not buy another Merc previously.

Having had some interest in the W221 S but ruling it out, obviously the CL is basically the same car with a different body.

As for another Merc again? Don't know. Don't like any of the current line up and AMG stuff is no good for me. Having driven an E63 on a 14 plate, I wasn't very impressed at all anyway although I cannot pretend the current 4WD E63 doesn't appeal!

Not sure what else otherwise although I quite fancy an SUV at some stage. I intend to keep the CL until I get to the point where I have had enough of it. I will think about it in the run up to that I guess!

PS: I'm glad I missed your previous post at the time, ALFIEBEARD, as I may have decided against the CL otherwise! :D
