This morning was gorgeous, sunny and bright; time for a drive! This was my 1st experiment with the keyring cams discussed elsewhere. The wing mirror cam:) This route was on little used country roads plus Boxley hill for those who know it;)

Kerbs I just saw potholes. I agree with tagnut a little higher would have been spot on.

I disagree -- quite a bit higher ..lol..maybe better sited inside the car by mirror?

But a good quality picture - how much did the camera cost?

The camera only cost £8 and I put a 4GB card in it. I was trying to show "speed" by having the camera positioned as it was, it also showed of the shine on the car! I'll redo it with a different camera position! See you in a bit:)

Mount the camera lower then find some decent music..

I reckon your best bet for "speed" is to mount the camera at almost floor-level. I always find bumper-cam position in car racing games to be the best for controls vs view angle.

Wing Mirror Cam V2! Much better result and edited to be much shorter as well. Boxley Hill is the nearest thing to a mountain pass that Kent has so enjoy:)

I wish I could ride my bike as fast as that...

Can you get a film with the front wheel in as well, I'm interested to see body control.

What on the whole route or just on that daft turn back up the hill?

The whole thing. I'm interested to see how a steel sprung car controls the body when the wheel moves.....

Yeah...I know...:D

Do you want the view from the bumper looking back down the side of the car or the side of the car looking forward?

From the door looking forwards please, exactly like the clip I posted.:)

It would be best on the drivers side, I think as there is more visual space.

I'll try and do it tomorrow!

Wow what a morning! First of all I tried to fit the camera onto the wing as requested by Dieselman. This was not easy because the key fob needs attached at 90 degrees in order for the picture to be the right way up! Lots of insulating tape eventually overcame gravity! Then when I set off I had a very eventful time.

At 32 seconds into the video a jogger appears in the road carrying weights.
At 45 secs a lorry cuts a blind bend........you can measure the gap and you see me swerve into the hedge.
At 1'37" I have to serve to avoid a freshly killed pheasant.
At 1'53" I start a spoiled run down Boxley Hill- good preparation though.
At 3' I'm taking a run into Dieselmans requested corner. The back skips out a bit and the car changes up and I lose momentum up the hill.
At 3.45 2nd attempt down Boxley Hill and reach the limit at the bottom because you can see me correcting the steering to get around the 90 degree bend at the bottom.
At 4'47" at 2nd attempt at Dieselmans corner this time pleasingly perfect!

I don't know if it tells you much about my suspension Dieselman, but my car handles very nicely and I've had great fun doing it. I'm quitting while I'm ahead!

Bobby-I bought it off ebay. They are very cheap, made from surplus or faulty phone parts in China and come with no makers name or guarantee!

To the PC mob. No speed limits were broken in the trying out of my suspension or the making of this film:)

This IS a near miss!

Thanks, that was great. Having the camera slightly further out would have revealed more of the motion between the wheel and car body, but I saw what I wanted to.
You can see the body move up and down over bumps, shown best from 4:30 on.

That lorry was definitely cutting that corner a bit...

I'm surprised at the quality from the camera, it's pretty good.

I've ordered some bits to make a secure external camera mount so will try this on my cars in a few weeks.

Yes I thought about that but didn't have time to fabricate anything to act as a bracket. Did you like the vicious corner at the bottom of the hill, going down and back up was fun:)
