As referred in this fascinating thread: http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/engine/137448-7g-tronic-tiptronic-user-notes.html as well as the User Guide, the expected behaviour of the gearbox in Comfort mode is that it'll pull away in second gear rather than first.
This doesn't happen on my car and the guys at the garage checked with the guru who reported that this car/engine combination doesn't follow that behaviour due to the heavier torque of the engine potentially overwhelming 2nd gear from standstill.
Is this something other S320 CDI owners experience, or is it possible that this is actually configurable? I'd love to be able to pull away on the slush of 2nd gear, or at least not see the car jump down to first when gently re-applying throttle after nearly coming to a standstill (e.g. traffic lights turning green when you've slowed but not stopped).
