Anyone seen any good number plates on cars lately?

After finding the F430 RED I went to regtransfers.co.uk
to have a look at what other F pre-fix plates were available.
Turns out that you can't choose the letter F as the first letter.
Why that is I don't know. Can only assume that there are no F plates left.
Mac.

How do you find a particular plate?

Another question.
If you had your heart set on a particular plate and money was no object but it wasn't available to purchase.
How do you track down who owns said plate to make an offer?
Mac.

They will issue the F plates soon, they start at A and move onto the next one when sales/suckers dry up .....

We had out heart set on M1 ATT , which spells our surname exactly but somone already has it on a Volvo, possibly located in Devon somewhere..

I imagine you could get hold of the address by claiming you had an accident with him or something, but it would be a very grey area and could leave yourself open to getting nicked under the DPA or obtaining information under false pretences or something ......especially if he didn't want to sell and started making enquiries as to how you got his address .....

WLM 1 on a nice Black CLK (W208) this evening in Horsell.

BTW some plates are non-transferrable. I had one on my ML originally. You can transfer a plate onto a car with a non transferrable plate but the original plate becomes one that can only ever go on that vehicle. For example my ML originally had LM02DXE. I transferred a plate onto it and then when I transferred the plate off, The log book (V5) came back with the original plate back plus a statement saying that LM02DXE was now non transferrable!

Saw an intersting one yesterday, 001 001, I guess it's actually OO 1001, was on a W220 S Class in Camberley.

Also saw JW52 VAN, nothing interesting other than it was on a Mercedes Vaneo!

It's pretty hard to be honest, I've tried in the past to get information to secure some plates for our family. We appraoched the DVLA, they will only divulge data in extremely rare situations (usually needing involvement from other agencies e.g. Police).

I guess this is one of the reasons why there are so many Cherished number dealers, they can do this kind of legwork - it does take time... I have heared of insiders within the DVLA at Swansea that can obtain data at a cost, however it's probably likely to raise awkward questions of you when you approach the individual whose details you've acquired.

At least you can check whether plates have been issued, if they were in a DVLA auction you can also find out the price it reached. Other sites such as the RAC vehicle checker and AA site will let you know what vehicle a plate is on. After that it's pretty difficult, I guess we should be glad for that!

Seen several times over the last few days on the BM 645 driven (badly) by our local boxing hero.

A180 XER.

I'm sure you won't need me to explain how he's illegally spaced that one. Hopefully it won't last long.

V27 on a black 2003 SL500 and not forgeting N8 OPS on a green/black C43 outside my office window (the spacing and font is all legal).

I'm a pro DJ - and got my plate T1 8EAT for £250. Think out of the box and you'll have your plate!
