Considering it went for £59k (ex fees + VAT) in 1999 I'd suspect it's worth rather a lot . Has your friend had it since then? The plate is very desirable, especially as it doesn't need to be doctored and Simon is a relatively common / popular name.

A very close call to CAR 10 is seen regularly around Wilmslow.

CAR 105 spaced as CAR1OS. On a Black R/R Vogue IIRC.

Also on a black R/R Vogue is JS 4. See it every two weeks or so in the car park at Sainsbury's Wilmslow. I wonder if there is a connection?

Apparently not; seems it belongs to a chap from Stratford upon Avon who also has JPS 2, CS 22, 5 J, 3 M and 4 T.

It's one of several numbers assigned to the Australian High Commission (ADE as in Adelaide), dating from when the High Commissioner or Agent General for each Australian territory used to have a London office.

Others include:

AUS 1
NSW 1 (New South Wales)
QLD 1 (Queensland)
TAS 1 (Tasmania)
VG 1 (Victorian Government)
WA 1 (Western Australia)

WA 1 is on a black Volvo S80 that can often be seen parked up in Earl's Court Road.
