Quick question.....are you allowed to have LHD drive cars in Australia. Car in question is a 1950's Yank Tank.

I have the nagging feeling that they dont allow LHD cars into Australia, but then couldn't recall if this just applied to new cars or whether I was dreaming about it!!!

Just noticed from the attachment that its mainly relating to cars coming in on a temporary basis...wonder if it makes a difference if its on a permanent basis?

I don't think you can register a LHD car in Oz.

Ok, this appears to be coming as clear as mud....here's what I've found and thanks npuk for the link

Vehicles for use on public roads in Australia are usually required to be Right Hand Drive (RHD). Contact your local State or Territory Registration Authority for information on acceptance of Left Hand Drive (LHD) vehicles

Can anybody shed any light on having a LHD drive classic car in Aus?

Update: its looks as if its OK as I've just looked on Aus E-Bay and there are lots of LHD Australian Registered Yank Tanks for sale.
