Oil's well that ends well!
After ringing the dealership today, they agreed that 0W-40 should have been used - and agreed to drain and refill the oil system at their expense.
So I took the car over this afternoon and had a coffee whilst they did the work; they also offered to wash the car but I said that there was no need as heavy rain was due later.
They also gave me a part bottle of Mobil 1 which they hadn't used.
A sound result, I consider!
