Sportline steering box doesn't fit as its for a Left hand drive!

I've been straight on the blower to sort this out. :( The German SPOB team are quite helpful, but lets see what they're like after sales..

Tbh it actually never occurred to me that they might be different. The box wasn't differentiated on their website stating its for LH models either.

So for the time being I have given the old steering box a clean up, and painted it with black enamel engine paint.
 
Whilst I was playing about in the engine bay with the steering box, it was the ideal time to tidy up the engne crossmember. The small areas of surface corrosion were rubbed back to bare metal, then red oxide primer was applied. Lastly I gave the whole crossmember a good coating with black underbody protection.

I went a little silly on the polishing, now they look factory fresh.:bannana:

If you are going down the Sportline route is there anything you need to to do the Idler arm, I had a feeling that was Sportline unique as well as the Lower Control Arms. Something to do with ball point position, are you guys aware of this...??

Then it's time to re-fit the gearbox. Whilst it was out of the car I've given it an oil and filter change, new propshaft coupling, and a new gearbox mounting.

As far as I know the idler arm is the same on both standard and sportline setups, though I could be proved wrong.:dk:
 
Well I guess they way to do this is to check part numbers....??

Lol! I got him one of those fluffy pink steering wheel covers with matching dice, I even had some small fake AMG logos stitched on them...oh well! I'll put them on ebay..

I am in denial though! I bought a ripspeed one as well in yellow just incase I didn't like pink!

..But then again who doesn't like a bit of pink?!:p

Shhh! You'll hurt his feelings if we dont fit the matching set, I've even found a hand crafted gearlever to realy complete the look...
