Well it's nearly there, all the birds eye maple centre console trim is on...

Except for the roller cover for the cup holder.

The Indie has Part A203 680 02 23 which I have checked with MB Derby is the correct part.

Indie has informed me that the part is 4mm too wide to fit on the original runners that came with the alu sports trim.

I appreciate some in sight here from someone who's done the mod, or is more up on these things than I.

Many Thanks

Brian

We had the same issue when changing a car from aluminium trim to wood.

It is possible to make it fit by carefully chamffering (theres a word you dont hear often these days) off a small amount from the edges of the roller cover.
Its only 2mm off each side so you may be lucky and it fits but is a bit stiff. Have you figured out how to get the old one out yet ;)

When I did this mod I had no trouble at all.

The roller fitted straight out of the box!

Same part #

Yep, getting the old one out was a b*gger longest part of the job

Remove the gearknob trim (carefully).
Remove the trim between the ash tray and the arm rest that the roller is underneath.
Remove the inside of the cupholder/trinket tray infront of the rooler. It unclips and lifts out. The roller then simply comes forward and out!

Easy. 10 minutes tops! ;)

I thought you said you could do it in 5!

I can. I was being careful with the 10 minute slot ;)

Well how about I bring the aforementioned section and an Avantgarde gear knob with me, when I book in for some cluster work in the new year... ;)

The one thing that trying to mod the merc has taught me, is to go to those who know what they are doing and not those who claim to...

I'm quite looking forward to meeting you. :)

Clearly I am less dextrous and a lot less experienced in this than Alfie! :o

But at least I did it and enjoyed myself at the same time :D

Alas the Indie (that I used to go to) was too busy breaking my Parrot Kit and never finished the trim job.

Hence, the comment! ;)

You will be welcome. Bring your stopwatch;)

Venemous, are you still looking to get rid of your old alu trim? If so I might be interested if it's not too scratched (or b*ggered in removal ;) ). PM if its available, please.

We have a customer who we swapped all his aluminium trim out for wood. the customer has the trim parts (all of them) and i'm sure he is looking to sell them. If you want I can put you in touch with him. Let me know.
