Blue Efficiency injector recall?

I'll second that. I got mine done in Milton Keynes and on the way home on the A5 dual carriageway at Brickhill I was doing 130 mph before I knew it and that was up hill!! :o

I don't know about 130mph, :p but ours definitely sounds sweeter - less diesel-y, if you know what I mean - since the injectors have been changed.

merc gone back in again today, it keeps wetting it self with diesel!

also notice dent on wing mirror and long scuff on bumper since it came from from 4weeks in merc cov for injectors

Mine also went to Merc in Cov, where it also came out after 4 weeks with damage to the rear bumper. They immeadialtey offered to sort it; however after 2 resprays neither me nor the service manager are happy with the finish. It is still with them and being resprayed again tomorrow I believe.

Mercedes 250cdi

We ordered a cdi 250 in the beginning februari 2010 and yesterday we had a call saying that our car has arrived. Is there any chance that it can have the old injectors in it? Should we ask the seller to show us the injector numbers? We live in sweden btw and i haven't read yet about any swedish owner with a broken car. Is the fuel consumption like it says on the brochures?

Are new cars being produced?

I ordered an E250cdi coupe sport in January.

originally told end of June delivery, now been told mid-july at earliest and they wont know for definite until the car is actually in production!

tempted to start considering other manufacturers...

Had mine done, and likewise it feels a little more refined. Also the throttle mapping seems different - like a smaller movement of the foot demands a higher power setting.

Economy exactly the same though, which is good. :)

I thought mine had stalled at a junction the other day. The new injectors do seem to make it a little more refined.

Another one bites the dust!!

Has anyone worked out the best way to complain to Mercedes about this sorry state?

Like most on this post, I have been caught out with the fuel injectors failing on my C220CDi. The second time in less than five months I have had to be recovered by Mercedes Mobilio and the car sent packing to the dealer.

Thus far, in 19 weeks of ownership, the car has spend 4.5 weeks in the dealers workshop!! All for known problems.

What would be my best course of action??

Any suggestions, or stories of successful claims against Mercedes UK, would be greatly appreciated

Just wondered whether you could confirm that when the injectors first failed they were replaced with the new version. We don't really want reports of the new version failing!
As for your particular situation you should read this thread and in particular the posts about rejecting. Some peole have been successful but it will depend on individual circumstances.

If you have seen my own thread "blue efficiency(sic) woes" you will know I'm no longer a fan of MB - Well just to top it all off, the loan car I had been given - 59 Plate E220CDI Estate, went into limp mode today around Nottingham and sounded as if it was running on 3 cylinders. Took it into MB Nottingham who suggested it was injector trouble - the guy at MB Stafford, when I rang to tell them I was in trouble, had told me it already had the injectors replaced so clearly this is an on-going problem - be warned!

Sorry, I should have mentioned that the first failure was due to a software fault with the engine management system - there was a recall in December - where the EMS would mis-read the fuel tank level and shut down the fuel pump whilst the tank was still 25% full.

The second failure was a single injector failing - MB Coventry replaced the lot, but took 4 weeks to get the replacements in from MB.

So no failure on the new injectors then?

I hope he was being economical with the truth !

Forget MBUK. Your contract of sale is with the dealer. Write a letter to the dealer and finance company (if it's on finance) and reject the car under the Sale of Goods Act. Dealer will do all the work with MBUK. We didn't end up rejecting as they offered a very attractive "goodwill gesture". Everybody's different.

But you need to go after the dealer, as legally that's who's responsible.

A bit like you mate...... I took the plunge and have ordered an Audi A6 Avant with loads of toys on.
Must admit the drive was about the same and the leather is as good. More on car tax and not as economical and the delivery..... Well between october and November but they are giving me a car to use until mine comes

Atleast they are finally sorting the problem.

Not for me Im afraid

My first set of injectors failed in December 2009. Assured that all 4 were replaced.

4 weeks ago, broke down again, with an "injector seal" problem.... Again all 4 seals have been replaced.

Car has not run right, since the first failure, erratic gear changes ( auto ), loss of performance, tremendous engine vibration. I can safely say that this Merc is the worst car i have ever driven....

Finally we sent a letter to MB and the dealer last thursday, giving them an ultimatum... Fix it or replace it... Friday, they picked it up so watch this space.

Sunday Times on the case

For all us unfortunate enough to have a car affected by the fuel injector issue, you might be interested in the following article in yesterday's Sunday Times motoring section: -

Mercedes hit by power flaw - Times Online

I'm sure if there is sufficient comments posted, there will be a follow up article.

I was especially interested in the statement that "Mercedes has written to affected owners offering compensation. . "

Has anyone on this forum received such a letter?

I doubt it as the "compensation" in the form of £250 vouchers and free servicing has been offered through the dealers. Obviously people such as myself whose cars have been recalled and fitted with new injectors prior to a breakdown have been content with a valet.

Injector Breakdown

Having been thru' the system - breakdown - towaway - Enterprise - grovel grovel - car back, I asked "has my car been recalled and I've missed it". "Sorry sir we allocate replacement injectors firstly to breakdowns and then to batches as it affects all C220, C250 E220 and E250s and we don't have enough parts to go round". Recall notice turned up the following day. Co-incidence or what? What offers have owners been made to keep them happy(ish)?

Car is E Coupe250CDi manual shift. Love the vehicle. Mpg close to and over 50. 9000m on the clock.

Particularly like the Mercedes quote in the Times article.
Mercedes has written to affected owners offering compensation, service vouchers and discounts on replacement cars, which many have taken up. A spokesman described the problem as “a comfort and refinement issue” and said it was committed to “excellent service”.

Comfort and refinement is strange way to describe RELIABILITY!
