Blue Efficiency injector recall?

Milton Keynes MB have just called and my car is going in for replacement injectors this Thursday. :bannana:

Strange as I purchased the car from Hughes Mercedes in Aylesbury!

Geezer; will be interested to hear what compo you get. Keep in touch.

I don't think compensation is an issue as geezer didn't break down. I didn't either and was perfectly happy with getting back a nice shiny car.

I would agree with that sentiment. Assuming my car doesnt breakdown before next Monday, then as far as I am concerned MB will have done the decent think and and replaced the injectors before they fail. I am happy with that outcome!

Having had the worst 6 months driving experience ever being in constant fear of
failure I will certainly be expecting something.

Good luck with that.

Unless you've got a stick to beat 'em with (i.e. a broken down car and the threat of rejection), I think you might struggle.

I have been reading the various posts on this issue and it would seem that its a bit of a lottery where you live and who you dealer is when it comes to compensation. What difference does it make if you lease or hp the car against some one who has bought it outright for cash for instance.
In my case The enterprise people could not have been more helpful and professional. After 2 days in a fiesta I had a brand new ML until my car ws ready. The car was rejected and a very satisfactory arrangement was made with the dealer and I now await delivery of a 350 coupe. The conversation withMB24 and the directors office was always pleasant and professional resulting in restored confidence in the product and the service.
Air travel permitting I and her indoors will be heading for Bremen mid June to collect the new machine. The trip back will be via Alicante so it should be run in by the time we get home

The position where the car has actually broken down is totally different and that has been evident from the vouchers and free servicing which people have received. Unless the subject matter of the contract is enjoyment/pleasure eg a holiday which isn't the case here you cannot conceivably claim for loss of enjoyment/ anxiety etc. and consequently I would be very surprised if MB considered any compensation . I didn't even ask and would have been embarrassed to do so.

In reply, I also received the voucher from MBUK. My point is that this problem is being dealt with on a customer by customer basis, also being confused by good and bad dealers up and down the country resulting in customers receiving varying levels of service and/or compensation
Embarrasment was not an issue for me as I had handed over a large sum of money for a product that, after it had several faults as well as the injector problem, and had under 4000mls onthe clock I had expected more. I was however happy with the brand and explored the possibility of an upgrade to a 350. My earlier post the explains what then happened.
I have owned Mercs for over 35 years and have had niggles with various models but I have always been able to resolve these issues without too much fuss.

This thread has gone very quiet lately. Does that mean MB have finally got on top of the problem?

Our C250CDI has been running fine since it was fixed.

Well , having purchased my first Mercedes, I unfortunately found this forum as a result of the breakdowns I experienced within my first five months of ownership. I've already listed like most of you, my injector tale of woe. I have read with interest the varying response of Mercedes to each of your cases and I agree with some who say the vehicle still gives immense pleasure when running but the company has somewhat sullied its fine name with the patchwork quilt response to our various breakdowns ,all traced back firmly to their manufacturing process , be it third party or not. I have never ranted or thrown my 'teddy out' despite feeling like I should , but I must agree I am less than amused with how I have been treated. My car is fixed and God willing appears to be running well. I politely enquired about any form of recompense be it in the form of a free service or whatever they deemed fit, just to acknowledge they are empathising with their customers. The dealer said not for them to do, so I reluctantly sent an email to Mercedes customer services and I have today received a phone call and email offering me £250 pounds towards a standard service within the next 24 months. This I feel is an acknowledgement of sorts and now I hope your motoring as well as mine will be trouble free. Good luck to all and sunder!

I parked next to an E250 yesterday in the supermarket and hang around for an extra 10 minutes.

Was desperate to ask the driver if they had broke down yet but had to go before they returned.

Well my Oct 09 E250cdi was booked in to have new injectors fitted at Hughes Aylesbury on Tuesday 27 April following a letter from MB HO. Went to see a client in Lincoln on Thursday and guess what? Got back into it at 4.30pm and one of the injectors must have popped and the engine management light came on!

Drove slowly to the very local dealer and as luck would have it, there was an Enterprise CLS sitting there! Trailer picked mine up and by 6.30pm to drive it down to Aylesbury and I was in the CLS heading back down the A1. My E class had new injectors fitted on Friday and was dropped back to me at 4.00pm.

First class service from MB Lincoln and Aylesbury and Mobilo!!

Hi all
I have today just cancelled my order with my dealer for my E class. They now tell me that the earliest they can get me one is probably November.
Whilst Merc have not officially said there is a problem the sales guy said that there are loads of unsold 2009 models sitting in the UK that dealers have been told not to sell until the catch up on injectors is completed.
He said its not a question of if it broke down but when?

Having already turned one down due to damage etc I have to question the reliability of the car maker

Now looking at Audi....... sorry

Anyone seen the the letter from a Mr Mason in Ingear yesterday? The gist was that he was surprised that the B/E injector problem had not had much airing in the press and you know what he was going to remedy that with a totally pointless letter to In Gear!
It was in fact so pointless that In Gear didn't even comment. However no doubt Mr Mason got a glow of satisfaction when his Sunday Times was delivered. Quite what benefit he thinks would have come from MB being pilloried in the press I really don't know.

E220 CDI Sport issue again

Rothbury the point is Mr Mason probably had problems like me..... like losing power in the fast lane of a motorway with my kids in the car..very scary & dangerous!!.... like waiting 5 hours to eventually resume our family holiday to Cornwall in a Kia Carens!!! A holiday to get me over the recent death of my father - spoilt...driving a Noddy car around for almost 3 weeks!! Like shocking customer service from MB and Enterprise.... don't call back.

The problem with injectors was known in Sept last year .... I got my car in Nov. The issue is not fully resolved and I expect another recall in a year to fit with latest version due late spring.

This is not a Toyota minor recall this is an absolutely safety critical issue and MB must take responsibility.

Don't make excuses for MB ... their response to customers has been unacceptable.

I accept that some people have shared your experience and I know that as I have of course been actively involved in the the various threads on the subject. The point is what is actually achieved by articles in the press? Some owners feel very aggrieved and they would include you and others who have broken down in dangerous circumstances- I would feel equally aggrieved but I would have regarded it as purely an issue between me and MB. MB have been trying to sort the problem out and in my case have done so before I had a breakdown. So some of us are satisfied they have done all they can and others are not. They are quite a few people on here who have been completely happy with the way MB has dealt with the problem.
So I still regard the reporting to Watchdog/Autocar/ In Gear whatever as a pointless gesture

Just had a letter asking that I contact dealer to have new injector fitted as MB have identified a problem and wish to sort it out before it occurs.
Here's hoping they last till then!

Car went in for injectors first thing this morning and I got a call at lunch time to say it was ready. Just collected it, beautifully valeted inside and out and all the injector numbers begin with a 10. Dont know if its my imagination but it seems to sound different and feels quicker. Anyway job done, signing off.

I'll second that. I got mine done in Milton Keynes and on the way home on the A5 dual carriageway at Brickhill I was doing 130 mph before I knew it and that was up hill!! :o
