Ivandragonov - Yeah i know, but its always nice to know its there when needed, it this case, it doesn't feel like it is.

I've added a photo album of the car on my profile now, pictures aren't great quality, but it's my car ;-)

Great car just I said let them go they are jealous our time is on the autobahn in Germany

Steve. Just had a look at your album. Your car looks the mutts mate, it really does.

I have often said if you need to be seen getting there buy a BMW, if you have arrived then you purchase a Mercedes. With that look, that colour and that stance - let the buggers go. I understand your annoyance at not having "it" under the right foot but you have everything else. Temp them:devil: and then watch them burn rubber and fuel into the distance. Your wallet will be all the better for it. You can have a little chuckle to yourself too:D You can guarantee that the driver you have just let go would rather have your car than his. Good Luck with it fella:rock:

:D Thanks for the reply, I do love the look of the car, and you are right i guess re the letting the others go. Just hard after such a long time in cars such as ive had, guess growing up is harder than i'd thought it would be  haha

Hi guys, well i've visited the dealer again this afternoon as i said i would.

This is the result thus far.........

I took a 59 plate 250 out for a spin, and found it to 'feel' no quicker than mine!? What kills the car in my humble opinion is the aweful lag from floor the accelerator to the car actually moving!! The black one i tried today was exactly the same as mine, very laggy with a mid range surge, so i'm confused how this car ever does sub 7secs 0-60 as the lag kills a second straight away, which would explain i guess how the BMW minced mine from a stand still. Doesn't really eplain though how the 220 held its own aginst mine, and driver error here is definatly not a part of it, its AUTOMATIC for gods sake, so no gear crunch here or double shifting etc, besides, i've had everything from Porsche 911's, M3's Z4M's Audi S4 and A3 3.2 Quattro's etc etc and have done many track days over the years.

So what i'm now starting to think is that the 250 simply cant compete with lower powered cars in a drag and therefore never really get going to any real effect!? So i'm thinking my expectations were way to high.

Don't get me wrong, i LOVE the look of my car, it looks stunning (i think so) in Opal Fire Red.

So anyway, the dealer said im more than able to take the next week to make a decision, either to upgrade (spend more money, which i haven't budgeted for and i really dont want a loan to buy my car) or to swap into the black 59 plate which has more extra's, full leather, parktronic,cd changer and heated front seats, but only sports the 17" alloys and is in Black and would also mean i'd have to hand over another £1,000 plus the cost of having the car super gaurded again as i did this one before i took delivery. Plus the black one has done approx 28500 miles compared to the 21k just cover buy mine.

Or, i decide to live with this and simply keep this car and except its not great on performance, so look to get a professional remap done, and as of todays results of careful driving does produce 50.2mpg combined which is where i wanted to be in regards to economy due to the 30k to 35k miles a year i cover.

I did look at the C350CDI option, but again the cost is what stops me, as the cheapest pre face life 09 plate / 59 plate i could find was £21.5k for an elegance version (and i want Sport) compared to the £16.5k i paid for mine including the Super Gaurd treatment.

So i hear what Gizze is saying, and again what Chelle has said, but unless im prepaired to get into financing the difference, i can't justify the extra cost. Coz for £22.5k for a C350CDi Sport i could easily get a 335d Msport or ever another M3 etc.

So cash budget being max £18k due to the fact i swap my cars every 12 to 18 months due to the mileage i do, i guess i'm going to be keeping this car and looking to get it remapped to slightly increase fuel ecconomy and noticeably increase theperformance.

I hope you can get the car re-mapped and it gives you better performance.
Enjoy the car :)

Just went to see the album
Great looking car, looks fantastic in red :thumb:

Nice car. They also take a long time to bed in, it will loosen up as miles pile on.

I think the remap route is the sensible option here. They do shift those cars, even my 220 will dust things at traffic lights.

Be aware the bigger engines variants are more nose heavy so a mapped 250 will be a more engaging car than a stock C320CDi.

Plus 7g really is rubbish.

The car looks great, there is no finer car than a red Mercedes c class.....!

Very rare to see a red one so good idea to keep hold of it :thumb: and as *** says, re map it. I have a Passatt estate and did that it's much better...

Sometimes on here they do a group re-map session and saves a few quid which is how mine was done at Angel tuning in Banbury, maybe organise one yourself?

Mark.

You'll get used to the massive lag and then the surge that follows, it's a trait of an automatic turbo diesel, especially a mercedes one!

Your driving will adjust and there are a few things you can do to compensate, such as a remap as suggested above and some people like sprintboosters to get to more throttle with less pedal. (I personally don't get on with sprintboosters).

I've been driving mainly TD mercedes for so long now, that any man ual petrol feels way too responsive to me!!

I guess its just a case now of adjusting to the new car, and hoping to find a decent tuning centre that can remap the origanal ECU as i don't like the plug an play ones you see advertised as they tend to kill the car and ive heard in deisels it can cause black smoking due to the fuel dumping effect.

If anyone can recommend a decent place, or like what has been suggested a group remap, then i'd definatly be interested, i'd also be willing to organsie a group event for the forum myself if i can source a reliable and professional service thats mobile or is central to those who'd want in.

Brabus D4 tuning box from the dealer or a reputable remapping co.

I've looked at the Brabus plug an play option, but their site gives no prices etc and although it must be a quality product, i was under the impression that plug an play simply increase the volume of fuel being pushed through the engine??!

IIRC gearboxes learn driving patterns.
Is it still possible to reset the gearbox to give sharper performance?

Steve you already have 200bhp,you don't need more. What you need to endulge your MB is holiday to Austria. On the motorway above 80mph your Merc will come to live.100mph is cruising speed 110,120,130,140,150 mph not a problem.Car becoming quiter and the air is pushing it down becoming more stable. And you can maintain that speed for a whole day without stopping.Ford or Vauxhall engine probably will melt after 8 hours high speed driving.Last year I was driving on m6 Nurnberg to Regensburg with cruising 110 mph and w202 250 turbodisel Merc on German plates overtook me like a was stationary,he must have been doing over 140mph.I was stunned. They are great cars
