I fitted new rear pads last sat,but the "Brake linings worn visit workshop" still shows on dash.Do you have to get this deleated by a garage? i smeared the brake wear probe with silicone greese to get it to slide into the hole in friction material of new pad.Could this be causing the problem?or do i need a new wear indicator? i didnt have this problem when i renewed front pads 3 months ago

Make sure that the plug for the sensor is fully home. Also check to see if you have accidentally nipped a wire and broken it.

If your sensors are the single wire type, then one is shorting to ground.

I think that your car is the 2 wire system where the lamp comes on with the ign if the pads are faulty.

This is a closed loop system where when worn the disc cuts through a wire, if a sensor wire was faulty or broken then the light would come on.

Some cars have rear brake sensors, it you have them, then the rear pads could be gone

If your car is a 203 then you could have them

2001, 320Cdi is a 210 if memory serves me right and there are two wires to the rear right hand pad. Left side is without.

You must have sensor both sides at the front, otherwise the lamp will be on
