The silver one.
Took wifes car to work last night and trip computer said 22 mpg, on way home said 22.3 mpg pretty crap i think as mine does same trip 20/21mpg.

So out of curio what does you c320 petrol do to the mpg?.

Obviously i realise on a run it will do more, same as mine does but for the last 1200 miles its averaged 25mpg, on a slighly better route than my daily trip.

Hello

How far was the journey and what sort of journey and how were you driving?

Through town stop start 22mpg sounds right, big engine / auto

on a run 30 - 35 should be fine at sensible cruising speeds.

:) I've bought my cls 320 yesterday and my average from London to Manchester was 37mpg - combined speed between 50mph and 90mph.

I dont know how is possible to get 47mpg as described in the manual :)

The engine in my C is the same as yours with some AMG modifications and a supercharger.

I get about 22 mpg for a stop start 11 mile journey lasting 35 minutes or so in cooler weather, and about 30 mpg for the same journey in summer.

Cross-country 60 mile journey lasting 75 minutes on 50/60 mph roads is anywhere between 26 mpg if making progress in winter and 31 mpg if cruising steadily in summer.

I'm guessing your CLS runs on the black stuff... as in CDI,

the C320 of the OP is a petrol.

OOh and my dad had 63mpg out of his E320Cdi estate albeit as he was doing 55mph for some time on his space saver

:)

how ? :) I've just tried with other suspension modes and my max was 40mpg (airmatic) + combination of sport & comfort mode

sport mode should give highest economy as car sits lower & is more aerodynamic

ill try today on my way home. Hope I get 45mpg :)
I just dont have any experience driving automatic gear box.

I've got the M112 engine in my C280 and have never found it to be particularly economical. The M104 in my E320 definitely gave a few more MPG in similiar conditions.

We get between 22 to 24 mpg from our W203 C320 (112) around town. If I take it for a blast (sorry drive) I can see an indicated 14 mpg :D

On a longer run on the motorway we get high 20's - and 30 on a good run.

It's not really economical but it's a nice engine. Surprised that the C32 doesn't seem too far off the figures we get... Rob you obviously haven't got lead driving shoes.

So general opinion is its crap then:D

Amazingly its only about 10% more economical than mine and thats got 1100cc more and 2 extra cylinders and weighs another 100kilos.

Around town it does similiar to mine 14/16mpg but then town is only 2 miles away:) and thats having to drive through the town to get to the centre if that makes sense.

I meant sport mode for suspension
sport mode on gearbox will use more fuel as stays in lower gears more & revs higher!

Thats exactly why i was swayed in the direction of the 230K when buying, its much more econmincal (even when i thrash the hell out of it in town i'm getting 26mpg) and it has similar performance.

Adam never noticed the large S before:D
