What MPG are people getting?

View attachment 82902 Probably 60% around town, queing and the rest on motorways. This one ^ is from August last year (motorway) but when we are on M roads we are usualy with 475lit roof box and full.
If I’m alone on M’s it is 46-47 mpg.

Seems low for a 250?

This was my run today, About 25% A roads, 10% town, and the rest motorway.

I never saw it go that high but tbh how heavy footed I am when accelerating I’m more than happy with its consumption.

Oh right! I managed 64mpg the other day! :D Then again I wasn’t accelerating roughly

I’ve heard of people getting high mpg from 250 but somehow I don’t know how to do it. Probably because this is my first diesel, it’s manual and I’ve got used to shifting gears on higher revs like I did with all my previous petrols. :dk:

E270. Typical 25 mile trip to work involving roundabouts and junctions, 33 to 35 mpg.

If I get on the motorway for half an hour I can get about 40 to 42. Haven't really driven it for much more than 40 mins at time.

No clue to be honest, mines an Auto. I just leave it in comfort mode

Actually, 36.3 MPG average over 23,891 miles is impressive.
That covers all your driving -- cold starts, slow traffic as well as motorway.

Others showing much higher MPG are posting short distances, probably ideal conditions, steady driving with one eye on the MPG.

I have seen the on-board computer showing over 80 MPG om my W204 but that is on a long runs with about 90% motorway and I am not driving at the speed limit.

The average MPG over about 18,000 miles on the same car which is mostly used in suburban / city conditions with the odd long run is about 36MPG.
This is calculated on a tankful to tankful basis and not using the overly optimistic on-board computer. I have found that to show MPG higher by 10 - 20% than the actual values on my car over that period.

I also think it's a good fuel consumption for such a big heavy car and as you said it covers all driving conditions, many short trips through town, A and B roads, motorways, autobahns and demisting and deicing during cold winter mornings.

Just did a quick calculation after putting 44.14ltr (9.72gal) in with a mileage of 388 miles so dividing 388 by 9.72gal = 39.91mpg and that is all urban. Not bad.

The above was from memory -- obviously flawed.
The facts are I have an average of 43.4 MPG calculated on a tankful to tankful basis for 16,500 miles on my W204 C220 CDI.

2007 E320 CDI 119,000 on the clock.
Returns 38 mpg on daily commute of 25 miles in traffic, all motorway.
Over the last 24,000 miles it has averaged 33 mpg.

C250d saloon here. Over 2 years and 25k miles, I've averaged 52 mpg. Very little motorway use, mostly country roads round here.

Must be fairly remote location where very little gets in the way , and you have that continuity , ques , speed humps and junctions are a mpg killer .

What was your average speed over that 25K ?

52 is good going .

Yeah, it's rural Suffolk, so apart from the occasional tractor it's very plain sailing! Easy to just keep bimbling around at 40-50 with no hills and few junctions.

Unfortunately my car is on a flatbed thanks to an Adblue system failure, so I can't check my average speed... :(
