C350e owners club

My software was updated in February and at that time there were no other upgrades or fixes. I still think it was worthwhile during the winter months.
I believed new cars have the external temperature on the odometer/trip screen?

Mine was delivered in June with the temperature display correctly working.

I assume there is a low temperature warning on startup, but I'm hoping I won't find out for a while. [emoji3]

No, you don't need a sat Nav destination to use e-save. In Economy mode with sat nav destination the car determines the best use of the battery. It's fun in a sad kind of way to see how the cars electronics are utilising the battery, including charging on occasion to use more battery later in the journey. Most seem to agree that by manually switching between hybrid, Esave and Emode you can beat the onboard computer for battery usage and mpg.

A lot of my long journeys end with 3.5 miles of 30-40mph mostly downhill after coming off motorway then 70mph dual carriageway. The car charged to 25% battery towards the end of the motorway stretch and I'm pretty sure it couldn't have used the charge in the last 3.5 miles. I switched to E-mode at the end of the dual carriageway, but it's uphill, I guzzled electrons and and the engine kicked in before I made it home. More testing required to get it right...

I now have known e-mode points on my way home from work, 20% from here, 30% from there!

Hello all. Loving my C350e estate ....

My question relates to the fabled software upgrade to get the external temperature on display. What else is updated as part of this software fix? It seems a lot of hassle just for a temperature display!

Love your description of the SW update...:)

But are you sure you don't have the OAT? It's been a while since cars were delivered without it.

There's only one measly indication on one of the eight screens of the MFD in "Trip" mode. You can't have the OAT displayed permanently. I'll see if I can find which one it is and get back here while I can still edit....!

Can't find it quickly so here's a composite of the MFD I posted back in May. The OAT is visible in the seventh image only.

Thanks for the response - I have checked with engine on and engine off! Not there...
Mine was registered in March but the EU conformance certificate shows it to be significantly older build - late 2015 in fact. If there are no other benefits to the S/W upgrade then I shall wait until it is serviced by MB. Hopefully the dealer will be aware of it by then!

Are others finding build and registration to be so far apart? My last MB had five months between EC certification and UK registration!

More re-entry Climate Control

Okay, sounds like you do need that SW update. I expected that all new cars would by now have had it done during PDI as was mine on 1st March 2016.

Anyway, back to Pre-entry Climate control...

I've got the Pre-entry Climate Control (PCC) with Key configured and have the temperature set at 17°C. So when I get into the car with the OAT at about 22°C, PCC starts up. It should be cooling the car. But although there is a good blast of fresh air from the louvres it does not feel cold at all. But when I start the "engine" (on HVB or ICE) and switch on the AirCon I do get a proper cold blast of air from the louvres. So the PCC mechanism tucked in behind the front right wheel doesn't seem to be anywhere near as effective as the AirCon.

Does this sound familiar to anyone else here?

Sadly mine seems equally poor as well - I leave the car on charge at work (all day) and at say 5 or 10 mins before leaving I open it to cool the car down, but its really quite rubbish, especially as you say when compared to using the aircon which is much much colder.

Tried pre-entry for the first couple of times this weekend. First impressions are similar - it doesn't chill the car. I seem to remember from earlier in the thread that pre-entry doesn't use your temperature settings, so I've just looked it up: outside temp below 20C activates heating and outside temp above 20C activates "ventilation". Doesn't sound like it will ever deliver 17C...

When we had those really hot days a few weeks ago I tried setting it to chill ready for my wife to leave work and apparently it worked a treat! Ice cold when she got in. That was remotely via the App; I don't understand the unlock method yet!

Similar experience here - pre-cooling via the app worked for me the other day, not tried any other approach..
Also love the car - achieving around 50mpg on long runs which I think is great for such a powerful car. Work commute is 5 miles - all on electric - loving it!
Only downside is the '4m' cable - because it is so tightly curled it puts things under strain if stretched - I would go for the 8m one every time now.

I had a new "thing" last night. I was down to two bars remaining on the fuel gauge and the sat nav screen popped up a message saying something like "Reserve fuel limit reached, search for nearby petrol stations?" I clicked yes, and it brought up a list of filling stations. Very clever, especially if you were in an unknown place.

I've had the reserve fuel message but no offer of searching - is this with the basic sat-nav or the 'posh' one?

Going back to the App, is everyone's car accurately represented in the splash screen at the top? Mine is a perfect representation including shape (estate), colour, wheels and lack of privacy glass! Very impressed [emoji2]

Mine has the blue brakes and PHEV decal in the App, but not in real life. Colour is correct.

The picture in the app is way cleaner than my car is in real life! :)

Bluetooth Audio

How do you choose a different album when using the bluetooth streaming from an I phone, whilst driving? Or is it simply not possible?

Thanks

Lovely attention to detail they have implemented there, really like it.

On the cable issue, I have both 4m and at home I use a 15m extension leads, it's rated for 13A and i've used it for both 8A and 13A charges though things do get hot when doing 13A so I tend to keep it at 8A.

Go to the tabs at the bottom of the media screen and select search. You should then be able to search by artist, track, album, genre etc.

You have to have the A/C turned on from when you last used the car, if it is on when you park it and the is enough charge it will switch on the A/C as part of the pr entry cooling. It works with both the app and the key on mine.
