C350e owners club

So only had my 350e a week, and been away most of that time so not driven it much. Trying to get to grips with all the bits and bobs... Anyone know if the mercedes parking app should work? I have the keyless go option. I have the app on my iphone but it tells me i need to connect new device under vehicle -> remote parking assist on the command. I connected my phone as a hot spot and can see some apps etc but not parking one. Do I need to pay extra for that?
Cheers
I think you’ll find that Remote Parking Assist only works on the latest E & C Class.

Well in that case I will stop wasting my time trying to get it to work!
Thanks.
Any idea how I find the outside temperature?

Keep scrolling through the options for the small display behind the steering wheel. Blink and you’ll miss it.

My car is booked in for a week Monday, told them they can keep it all week as I am away on business by train.

It now stinks inside, all the time, chemical, electrical, battery melting kind of smell....even now i'm not charging and putting up with mid-30's mpg. Can't stop it from using the batteries a bit when driving of course but i'm not doing a lot over the next week.

Oh and on full right lock the tyre has started catching the inside coverings of the wheel arch.

All in all, no longer a happy owner, i'm quite resilient but the issues are becoming too big for me to shrug off.

Ultimately the car can't handle being charged over 1000 times and the 3-pin charge back isn't built well enough for daily use.

So, I gave my car to Mercedes this week and they couldn't do a loan car so i'm currently driving a Fiat 500 hire car and getting ridiculed for it....it's actually quite fun but only because I know it's just for this week.....

Anyway, Mercedes just called, they are going to trim the wheel arch liner to stop the rubbing....it was that or pay £200 for a new liner.

The smell.....they all agree it really smells but they say it's not an electrical smell and can't find anything wrong.....i'm literally getting to the point where I am losing my mind with it all, decreased range, car absolutely stinks.....but apparently there's nothing wrong.....makes me want to keep the Fiat 500!

Oh and the delivery date for the new charge pack keeps on slipping....was Monday....then Wednesday.....now it's TBC......

That's patently unacceptable. Ask 'em if they would be happy to sit in & drive the car stinking like that! If they answer yes, offer to swap cars!!

Around this area, the Sytner group set the benchmark seem to set the benchmark for customer service. They run Audi and BMW dealerships. Mercedes have patchy customer service in comparison. My experience has taught me patience and resilience. [emoji853]

6 years of Honda motoring before the Merc and the Gatwick dealership for Honda is run by Sytner.

Gatwick Mercedes is run by Lookers, who also handle the leasing of my car.

We used to lease through Arval but moved because of the Mercedes Me issues which were then addressed but too late but it was a bad move, the Mercedes maintenance plan doesn't include punctures for one thing and I have to take it to the dealer rather than ATS. More importantly when I did have issues in the past that the dealer were being stubborn on, I called Arval and they leaned on them with a lot more pressure than me as an inidivudal could do, it feels like this time the lease agreement is you get the car and that's where it ends.

Seems I can’t edit typos in my own posts this morning.

I’ve had some help from Zenith, but my employer was more useful. We must lease several hundred cars each year which helps to get attention.

How was your Honda experience?

If the smell is worse after charging then it would point to the battery pack/ charge controller. Its also possible for example that there's a problem with the battery coolant system.

Oh I think it definitely is the cooling system, it used to make a noise when you plugged it in, like the cooling system starting up, doesn't do that now and that noise stopped exactly the same time the smell started....but the dealer won't investigate it because their investigations don't go beyond "does it say somethings wrong when we plug it in"

Also used to make the same kind of light electrical whirring noise when in electric mode trundling in traffic, you've probably all heard it. After the dealer started bumbling about, updating firmware on things the noise got louder and did this weird repeated pattern....then it stopped, my own evidence points to them messing something up to the point where it broke....but I don't have proof.

Doesn't seem to smell much worse whether I charge it or just leave it sitting overnight. Once i'm in it for 10 minutes the climate control gets rid of the smell but every time you get in there it is and it's horrid...

I had no issues at all with the 8th Gen Civic, the 9th Gen I had squeely brakes but this was down to Honda using more eco-friendly pads rather than a significant fault. The dealer were overall pretty good.....they used to give me a box of maltesers with my service.....with the Mercedes dealer no chocs....just mistakes on bookings....

I've tried to find out a little more about the battery coolant / thermal management ] system but there's zero information out there. How much of it is external to the battery pack for example? Save for the fact its liquid cooled and a couple of inlet/outlet ports on the pack there's little to go on.

Is there any coolant in the header tank for the battery system?
It's at the front of the engine bay, passenger side. Should be bright pink.

I think the battery pack coolant system is stand alone and entirely separate from the internal combustion engine coolant- they will have too widely differing demands to be integrated. Its all very confusing ---the first 400 mild hybrid had a battery pack in the front which was cooled by piggybacking on the vehicles AIR/CON system for example. It would appear battery thermal regulation is one factor which separates the " men from the boys" in the automotive battery stakes. Deutsche ACCUmotive --Daimlers battery manufacturing arm probably assembles battery packs from the same LG Panasonic ?? power packs as many other car manufacturers - but its how they combine them together and control their input/output that seems to be the key.

If you put your ear to the front grille you can hear water bubbling round but where I used to hear an electrical whirring I don't hear that now. In the summer of course you also get the loud fan when it's a hot day and charging....i'm worried as to what will happen trying to charge in warm weather when I suspect this system has a component burnt out. The guy at the dealership is going to be held hostage by me for a bit tomorrow!

Oh and forgot to reply....my employer is small, we have a fleet of.....7 cars, all hybrids

4 through Arval - Golf GTE, 2x Outlander PHEV, XC90 Hybrid,
1 through VW Leasing - Passat GTE
2 through MB Leasing - 2x 350e's

So we probably have limited bargaining, we are going to try and stick with Arval as we have more clout through them but sometimes they are a lot more expensive or refused to activate features on the car!

bearing mind your symptoms I would be looking hard at 80 A0005002300 pump or maybe 30 A0005002340 switchover valve
