Not good... Can't they come recover it sooner and get you in a loan car ?

Are you car-less now then ?

Charged my car at the AC point of a rapid Charger at Hopwood Park Services on Wed & Thurs while I picked up a coffee, I was just under 1 hour on both occasions and I was just inside the services at Starbucks with a view to the car (closest space to main entrance) I watched as multiple people stopped to inspect the connection, walk around the car and look at the charger post read out. On the occasions I was connecting and disconnecting I fielded questions from many curious people passing, all were very pleasant and many (some company car drivers) suggesting they did not know MB did a Plug in Hybrid. The only sour note was the one grumpy Nissan Leaf Driver (most leafers I met were nice) who arrived and plugged in to a seperate charger he was suggesting I was "pissing in the wind" and his concern was I was blocking a space for another pure EV owners, I accepted that as a fair point but I did confirm I had charge bump app and would give way for a Pure EV If required, and as I could charge my car at this ecotricity point and had the card I had every right to. I charted the % top of the car by the Mercedes Me app while in the coffee shop and disconnected at 85%.

It's first come first served in my opinion.

When buying a pure ev you make that choice that you may not be able to charge on instant arrival. Thats the risk you take and purchase the car on that basis.

It's irrelevant if your range is 10 miles or 100, as the fact maybe the phev driver only does low mileage but all on pure ev (ie at a city charge point) .

Sooner pure ev drivers realise they don't have exclusive rights to chargers the better.

Apparently it's ok to drive until it gets in for repair! Not asked for a loner yet, I'll wait until they see it on Wednesday and give me the verdict

It's a lease car so I'm not overly concerned!!

ah.. least it can still be still drove... i read the fault messages as in it was an expensive ornament.

window wipers

Hi all
Had mine now for just under a week and am experiencing a juddering wiper blade. The drivers side judders at the end of its movement before returning to the home position. With all this rain it has become quite annoying. Any one else experienced this?

Nick

assumed you have tried cleaning it with a damp cloth ?

Cleaned with a damp cloth, and also a good window cleaner to no-avail

Yes! Mine does that.
Was more noticeable from new, guess the rubber was loosened a bit so it seems to clean the window basically alright now, but looking at the arm- still judders.

I have a suspicion it could become a bit of an ornament if I don't get it seen to ASAP!! I'm hoping its. Itching major and it can be fixed in a day at the dealer...

Fingers crossed for me!!

How much are people using public chargers??

I have used chargers on a few times for quick 30 minute bursts whilst I have a free chargemaster card, but cant see any value in paying £7.80 a month for the odd charge.

It would work out about £2 a charge if I did it once a week (and I would never charge fully). I presume I would only use a service station if I were taking a break for a coffee.

Any thoughts??

In any case where you would have to pay for a maximum of 11-12 miles in e mode I would think as follows:
Eco mode and hybrid mode, keep your foot light on the pedal would be the most economical option.

I wouldn't consider spending this figure for a "few times" charging here and there merely because the battery capacity is not large enough to justify the waiting time and the maximum electric driving distance that it can offer.
Hope you are enjoying all other aspects of the best car in its class :thumb:

I haven't used a Chargemaster pod since they introduced a "Admin" fee.
It was the case that I could park for free and get a full charge in about two hours when in town. Now I don't bother and wait till I get home.

I use the medium speed 7kWh Ecotricity ones (as the car doesn't make the most the fast chargers sadly) which are free, also the 3 pin sockets in Westfield London and Pod Point ones near my local Tesco. I try and plug it in whenever I can!

I avoid the paid versions though, with the battery capacity so low it's feels barely worthwhile as it seems to cost about the same price as the petrol would be for the same distance.

Fuelly.com reckons I'm spending about 12.5p per mile on petrol, a lot of the chargers seem to be 25p per kWh so a full charge would be £1.50 for about 12 - 13 miles. Others seem to charge an hourly fee which again the car doesn't charge quickly enough to make use of.

Luckily I can charge at work on a 3 pin socket and soon I'll be charging at home as well!

Charge price 1,8 hrs 6,5 GBP. Petrol price 1,5 GBP for the same distance you get from charging.
This is one of the most busy shopping places around, all spaces empty.
Where does incentive come to play I wonder :-)

I was thinking the same. I am trying to get the office to put some sockets in outside, even if they are just normal plug sockets. to pay £1.50 is totally pointless.

The 12.5p per mile is that based on combined?
The range figure on the car is totally irrelevant as it can only show you at current state, so I have just got to work and the battery is at 9% so wouldn't take me any distance. The range is showing 380 miles, but when I get home it will probably show 360. But my journey in the morning is done all on electric, I also seem to be doing 1 or 2 miles 'extra' on electricity based on my driving/coasting. They should have a 'petrol' range figure.

That figure is based on my tracking within Fuelly - C350e (Mercedes-Benz C350e Plug-In Hybrid) | Fuelly

Do you mean a range figure like this? http://i.imgur.com/9wq4lCA.jpg I just take the electric figure off to see how far I can really go, but it varies on how you're driving.

I've also noticed below around 50 miles the range doesn't display a figure, but within the Mercedes Me app you can see the actual level still!

You've hit the nail on the head there.

1. Pay a ridiculous premium for car
2. Lose performance over a decent size normal petrol
3. Economy isn't really all it's cracked up to be
4. Electric range is poor
5. Charging points are more expensive than petrol

Note to self: If I ever become a tightwad and buy a hybrid just walk away and get an oil burner instead and save the cash.
