So I wonder if they are over egging the "play in the ball joint" as well...

Have you got any knocking from the front over bumps? That's how mine became obvious, then it failed the MOT so I had no choice...
I was quoted £900 for the pair fitted, so the price they've given you sounds about right I'm afraid. :(

No knocking, but I have noticed if the do a sharp hard right turn there is a bit of a grinding noise, i.e. if there is a sudden gap in the traffic when turning right and you give it full(ish) power.

900 for the pair? Maybe 405 isn't all that bad then. As it's not knocking I may wait a while anyway.

No comfort for you I know, but my 350e saloon did almost 80,000miles without the link arm ball joints failing.... mind you the air suspension compressor did fail after 70,000 miles (it was still in warranty I am pleased to say!)

Bother....had to put petrol in it this morning.

Took just under 43l to brim it again. If you do a (very simplistic) calculation, that suggests is did either 107mpg or 26mpg! Since I have no idea how much electricity I've put into it, the reality is somewhere in between those two figures :)

And mainly for @Sraj , from this indicated 11m range, having just pre-heated, it managed....about 7 miles on battery, with 14% left at the end. Heater and AC really do muck it up.

Forgot to say, average consumption (just petrol used vs miles) is now at 78mpg. Any real meaningful cost per miles figure would have needed me to record every charge too. That was never going to happen! :)

I’m not sure this is on topic, but I’ve borrowed a Kia Niro EV for the weekend and I have a couple of observations:
1. The 12-mile trip I do on Saturday mornings used just over 3kWh of energy. In the C350e on a day like today, I’d use over 5kWh to get halfway
2. There’s a readout that’s shows what’s using the energy. Battery conditioning hasn’t used any yet. Electronics have used nearly 10%! That’s the screen, the satnav, possibly the lights. Even in this weather, it has well over 200 miles of range

That’s incredible! How did you manage that?

Last week spent £25 and got the following readout. Driving was on comfort mode. On this occasion, I didn’t charge the car, just going to work and back on the a406/a13. Very light footed.

Weeks before I was charging the car and was getting 36mpg.

Also, how do you preheat the car. I went on the settings and chose 24 degrees and when I started the car up the next day it didn’t feel warm at all.

@Sraj The vast majority of our trips are really short, and we charge the car every time it’s used. In the summer, we do nearly all our driving on battery. On the few longer trips it gets used for occasionally, typically see something around 40 to 50 mpg, depending on weather and nature of the journey.

Looking at that last screen shot you posted, I’d say it’s probably not that far off TBH.

I did a short journey Saturday morning, as it was -1 the engine started the second I turned the key. I then drove just over a mile up a big hill, 16mpg for that journey! EV Mode wasn't available, presumably as it was too cold.

You can either do it from the Mercedes Me phone app, or you can set it from the big screen in the car. Press the MENU button in the middle of the row of switches on the centre console then toggle left and right though the menu until you find it. Can't remember what it's called exactly - "Pre-entry climate control" or something like that.

Where is the pre heat temperature in the phone app settings? I can only see how to turn it on then it uses what the last car setting was.
I am running the Android app.

My wife has just done a 14-mile trip with only a partially charged battery @29mpg. I’m sure she wasn’t hypermiling, but I doubt I could have done much better in today’s weather.

You don't set the temp. You just ask it to start. I'm sure somewhere I remember seeing a thing that if the outside temperature was below a certain point it will heat up, and if it's above a certain point it will cool down. Which makes sense! It certainly aims for a hot temperature though. I usually have mine on 21 Auto and it warms it up far beyond that. Using the menu on the car you can choose whether it heats up the driver's seat only, or the passenger as well.

Whilst we are talking about heating does anyone remember to use the REST button when you park up for a short while? It keeps the heat going for half an hour after you have got out of the car. Quite handy if you are just popping into the shops, but I usually forget...

Park the car and switch off, but before you get out press REST (it's a down push on the MENU button).
A red light will come on. Get out of the car and lock up as normal.

I don’t see much information on my Mercedes me app. I told two advisors at Loughton and Stratford and both didn’t help me at all.

£25 I spent this week and this is what I achieved. Worse thing is that I’m not driving fast at all. I have drivers behind me flashing me.

Personally, I think the c350e is a big con when it comes to economy. Should have got myself a vw Passat.56443690-6DC5-4967-88AA-1E3F0FDFC142.jpeg

I don't get it. Something is amiss somewhere.
Engine off for 61 in 135 miles sounds OK. 32.4mpg doesn't!

Mine's showing 46.3mpg average.
This morning's (9 mile) trip to work shows 53.3mpg and I have 100% battery left.

90% petrol tank (say £40?) is showing 403 miles range...

Everyone is getting much higher mpg than me and I’m driving extremely slow.

could there be something wrong with the car?

when I bought the car, the cruise control didn’t work and I tried to return the car back but the dealer refused to take it back.

The car needed a new radar sensor and brackets. Mercedes Loughton quoted £1035. The dealer refused to pay that amount and forced me to take it to SNAUTOHAUS who are completely useless.

The dealer told me to take it there so that he can claim on the warranty. SNAUTOHAUS messed the car up and made it worse.

I took the car for another diagnostic so that I can return the car back and get my money back.

The dealer still refused to take the car back and decided to pay extra to get the car fixed. Took one month to get the car fixed.

I’ve only had the car since August 2019.

Mercedes dianostics cost £202.80 and the ones I’ve been to (Loughton and Stratford) we’re useless.
