C350e owners club

Hi Guys, new on here ordered the saloon premium plus Tenorite grey with everything aside from the HUD and 360 camera. Really looking forward to the car arriving; been quoted beginning of May and ordered back end of Nov 15

Sounds like a few have got their cars early; is this a common trend or does it depend who you order with; mines via the company?

Main reason for buying was the bik and power! Although wasn't aware the car would go over the 50g co2 if I had a better specced car; but what the heck!

And just to say iv read back through all 48 pages since discovering this site and some really interesting comments and thoughts!

Day 2. Charged to 16 miles range over night. Pre heat at 6.30 am in car at 6.40. 2 miles of my journey to work is 30mph the rest motorway, total 21 miles.
Got here with 6 miles electric used, 49.5mpg, 8 miles electric left in the tank. Must say it was against a significant head wind (gertrude) and in such conditions my 320ed struggled to get above 50mpg on the trip. I did use cruise control all the way at 70mph.

I am proper impressed with that! If still windy tonight in the opposite direction I think higher mpg is likely. No charger at work yet though so have 8 miles range left to capitalise on electric assistance.

Interesting behaviour exhibited by my car this morning, in that it didn't coast once on the way in, not even with my foot off the accelerator going down a slight hill. This was in Comfort mode with about 17% battery. I wonder why? I've had other strange things happen, like one time the car charged the battery up to about 35% seemingly for no reason. Again I was in Comfort, with no destination in the Sat Nav although I think this only affects charging when in Eco mode. This morning the consumption only took a 1mpg hit on a 25 mile run. It didn't even coast when I put it in Eco. It'd be nice if there were some publication with a thorough explanation of car behaviours, maybe the charging incident is because this happens from time to time to maintain the health of the battery when you go a long time between charges.

Did you have it in electric only mode for the pre and post motorway sections? My commute from Warrington to Manchester is very similar (distance wise) to yours 22 ish miles from door to door. I get mid 50's mpg in my current Honda Civic 2.2 IDTEC, which ive always been really happy with and if i can get something similar out of the c350e I will be delighted. I am having a rolec unit fitted at home next week, and will have access to a public charge point right outside the office, so Im hoping that most days I'll be able to give it a charge before the commute back home. Really interested in your daily updates!!:thumb:

I Just put it in eco and let the car decide. Leccy only kicked in on the very flat and downhill sections on the motorway, and 100 per cent on the start and end of journey slow speed sections. I am charging at home via a £20 13amp outside plug at 8 amps car setting.

A quick/simple question to those that actually have the car ...

Is there any warning or prevention system to stop you driving the car away if it is still plugged in ?

I hope there is as the socket location at the back is a lot less obvious than say the Audi A3 ... where you'd have to be a right dimwhit to drive off with it plugged in :wallbash:

The car won't move when it's plugged in...

My partner's Golf GT Cab has an auto gearbox that seems to have a mind of its own sometimes so something as complex as a C350E is going to be hard to follow logically. Give your car a name then put the erratic behaviour down to her/him having a bad hair day.

All OK now, odd. The car didn't even stop the engine when coming to a stop.

Has anyone else had the roof trim lifting? I noticed it on mine this morning, quite a gap too. I managed to click it back down OK though.

Hi, have my second, but different fault with charging occur today.

Plugged the car into my charge unit and the 'battery' indicator next to the charge point on the rear bumper started flashing red indicating a fault. Have unplugged, moved the car and tried charging bit still flashing red.

Has anyone else experienced this and is there a quick fix otherwise I'll be running on the petrol hungry engine until I can get booked in to MB

Not good, I had that and have been without my car since Christmas while they try to fix it...

Corrosion in the charge port apparently caused my fault, waitng on feedback as to when I will be fixed!

I've only had the car since 1st December and it wasn't used for a month over Christmas and New Year as I was away. Surely there shouldn't be a problem with corrosion in just 1 month of use!!!

And you have been without the vehicle all of January. Did they supply you with a replacement vehicle?

As I said in the other thread, I had to reject my vehicle after a series of faults that started on day 3 of ownership. Very sad as I need a reliable car for work. I have ordered another one and will be looking for Mercedes to provide a car while I wait for it!

I'd only had mine 6 weeks before it stopped charging. The red malfunction warning started after just 3 to 4 weeks..

I've been looked after. Had a c class saloon for a bit, then an e class estate. Currently have an s class - 3.5l V6 diesel. Very refined but can't wait to get mine back. Fingers crossed that will be soon - haven't been contacted to say it's fixed but I got the automatic email yesterday late afternoon to say it's 100% charged. Looks like the parts arrived early and they've fixed it finally! Will be on to the garage first thing in the morning to find out..

This morning red box still flashing with no charge cable connected. When I tried to select drive the display said charge cable connected, so unable to move the car. Called MB who sent out a technician. He did all the diagonostics and disconnected the charge port. Everything seemed OK and able to start the engine (though obviously cannot charge the car via the cable). A few miles down the road red box popped up in the display telling me not to change gear and return to workshop. Charge cable connected also popped up a few times. Got home OK but as soon as I turned the engine off, charge cable connected appeared in the display and car now immobilised again. Technician now suspects a software issue. Will try and over-ride it in the morning and get it to the dealer. Think I must have got a Friday afternoon build

Stuttgart by night. Tomorow pickup brand New car.

Is there anybody out there?

Yup! But we're just envious...

Seriously, we look forward to your report about the pick-up and about the car.

When I bought my C320cdi Estate in 2008, I seriously considered (but only briefly) picking it up from the factory but the savings were outweighed by the costs in getting it back to UK. It was much simpler to let the dealership deal with all the import/registration etc.

I did it once when I bought a Cortina from Dagenham; that was nice.

I may have missed something but I was under the impression the C350Es were being built in Bremen not Stuttgart so is this a 350E pick-up? If so, have they shipped it South to give you the full visitor treatment?

Correct. Made in Bremen. Shipped down here. Factory in Stuttgart makes E and AMG and more. 8 hrs autobahn on my way home. No money saved, lots used and mighty fun :-) like spa for the ladies ;-)
