C350e owners club

Thanks Mardeman, I'd read that before so gave it a try but no difference I'm afraid. I've wiggled both ends (it's an untethered 16A Rolec socket) but it doesn't want to play.

There are no controls other than the LED on the face of the socket and the RCD is switched on. I've tried plugging into the socket first then the vehicle and the other way round, but neither makes a difference.

The socket is clearly recognising a connection as the LED is turning solid blue, but the car is not activating the charging for some reason.

I'm confused! :dk:
Interesting, I have a Rolec installed at home with the socket (two different cars to charge so a tethered cable wasn't any use to me) and use the cable that came with the car with no problems at all - the car just starts charging when you plug in.

Has anyone else tried the charge point so you know it's definitely working properly? It's possible that there a fault with it. If your car charges with the 13a "brick" cable OK then I doubt it's a problem with the car. Maybe try switching the charge point off at the isolation point and then back on again so rebooting it. Unlikely to fix, I know but worth a go. Otherwise you may have to get the installers back to check it's working.

Out of interest what order do you do the connections in? i.e. car first then the socket or the other way round?

I've tried turning it off at the RCD (can't access the main breaker) and let it reset so that the LED runs through it's colour cycle, then tried again but all to no avail. The car has charged with the 13A brick many times without a problem.

At the moment I'm the only one with a hybrid on site, though one of our guys is having his C350e delivered next week so we'll see if the socket works with his.

There's a chargemaster mode 3 socket in the pay and display car park next to our site so I'm going to give that a go and see whether it works. If it does then at least I can narrow the problem down to the socket that's been fitted.

I usually connect to the Rolec first, then to the car but it works either way round and I've never had any problems (apart from when my car stopped charging completely but that's a different story!!).

The chargemaster point may need a RFID access card to enable charging. If you don't have one, Ecotricity points are at most, if not all Motorway service stations and are free (again with a card but this is free to get). Otherwise some hotels have free to access charge points that may be of use if you have a search for nearby points?

Thanks JP350e, I've followed your trials and tribulations over the problems charging and hope its OK now.

I have a Polar network RFID card so will try the chargemaster sockets and see what happens. Unfortunately both sockets are occupied by EV cars at the moment so I'll have to get in early tomorrow and beat them to it! For now I'm plugged into a 13A charging socket and the car will be charged for hometime.

I have downloaded over 4000 iTunes tracks onto a usb stick that also shows all the album covers.

Out of curiosity what format are the iTunes tracks in? I have a lot of purchased tracks but they're not in MP3 format, though when I hook my iPhone up by cable I also get the album covers. It would be easier if I could stick them all on a stick and leave it in the car.

I did this in December... So can't quite remember... As I recall I initially copied the iTunes media folder with all its subdirectories onto my desktop, then copied this onto the usb fob. The files are in MP4 format. Not sure if there is a better way to do it

Curses, my build week has been revised back to next week. No specific production problem, I'm told, just that what was labelled a "confirmed build week" was not quite so confirmed. Looks like I may be heading for a March 1st collection after all.

Ambient light in memory seats and seat heating only in amber, if I change the ambient to white or blue, those mentioned stays amber.
Do you have the same?

I've read about this elsewhere. The heat switches are lit up in Amber regardless. Suggests that they are a standalone unit which just happens to be Orange/Amber. I suppose there is a chance another software upgrade may miraculously fix this but I wouldn't hold your breath. Happy to be corrected?

mp3 works for me, not sure about other formats to be hones. I have one of those low profile 64gb memory USB memory sticks in mine - absolutely no sticking out into the centre storage area and I just leave it in place. I just copied a large chunk of my iTunes music folder onto the memory stick and it works well. there are some free programmes that will convert media files to mp3 format if you need to.

What also works well is mp4 videos - I use handbrake to re-encode some of the films the kids watch and put them on the memory stick. When the wife is off in the shops and they don't want to go in, they can watch a film on the screen. It gets me out of going in also!!

That's impressive, I didn't realise it played video too. Mine is the standard audio system, not the Burmester. I'll have to give that a try, though I don't sit in it stationary for long enough to watch a film!

I used an App on my iMac to export the music, CD covers etc. onto a USB stick. It's called "DoubleTwist".

Interesting. The electric range displayed seems to be slowly improving. I am now getting 15 miles displayed after a full charge (was 14 last week). I wonder if it'll ever hit the quoted 19.

Rolec home charger being installed on Monday, so hopefully that'll result it fewer visits to the pumps. Although I've been spending too much time in Sport+ as it is quite addictive!

Uh oh, my car wouldn't charge last night or this morning. No lights on car but 3pin charger (still waiting for the wall mounted) showing fault on the car side...

I had mine fitted yesterday. Great little units. Charges a god bit quicker than the standard 3 pin.

That's not good news. Hopefully it's just a glitch and nothing like mine was...

Indeed, now double p****d off that seemingly my local garage is so busy they can't see it until the 17th...

It's alright though, my wall charger is due for next Friday!

At least my car still moves, a colleagues locked up completely and wouldn't move....

Well, have had mine for a month now and just cant get past 23.9mpg........ worse mpg than my ML. Perhaps its because I dont get past Sport mode :-)

Very funny!!!

I have used Sport+ a couple of times, but I need my licence too much.

I used Sport mode on the way in to work this morning. The result was that was hugely more enjoyable for short bits before I got on to the M4, then it was pretty slow all the way to work so I ended up only losing about 4mpg.
