C350e owners club

Indeed, now double p****d off that seemingly my local garage is so busy they can't see it until the 17th...

It's alright though, my wall charger is due for next Friday!

At least my car still moves, a colleagues locked up completely and wouldn't move....
The 17th - nearly 2 weeks? Perhaps they have too many C350e's failing?!

Well, have had mine for a month now and just cant get past 23.9mpg........ worse mpg than my ML. Perhaps its because I dont get past Sport mode :-)

Ouch, but sport mode is worth it. :D

I did two long runs (500ml round trips) this week. Managed to get 36/37 MPG on mostly motorway driving with cruise at 77. Interestingly I dropped the speed to 73 for some parts ;) and MPG got a bit worse? I guess there must be a sweet spot of consumption vs mile eating.

I've noticed better MPG/electric range since it got warmer too..

Question about heating...

A question to the "haves" from a still has not yet got:

If you are driving in E-mode (purely electric driving) and the ICE is not running (therefore the coolant is cold), what mechanism heats the cabin?

If it is from the HVB (High voltage Battery) that could be where some of the miles are going.

Indeed... They could squeeze me in for one hour one time next week but timing was no good.

Just got home, gave another go. Still not working but noticed that plugging in the cable while powered elicits a brief orange battery symbol on the port. Consulting the manual this means "charging break" whatever one of those is. It quickly disappears to no lights though.

However there is no red battery symbol which would be a malfunction.

At least I'm still mobile.

Mine goes in on Monday and I've been booked in for about three weeks but only because I asked for a courtesy car and they wanted to wait until they had one available for a few days which doesn't fill me with confidence.

I'm using a combo of charge and E-Save to ensure I always arrive home with enough for a preheat in case the weather turns cold and to be honest haven't seen a massive impact on fuel economy.

Drove it very spiritedly on Wednesday in sport + mode with a couple of colleagues who were astounded at the performance but then had the red battery malfunction error so went back to Eco, presume this has something to do with my charging issue.

Incidentally rang the dealer and asked for the software update to allow me to see temperature but they couldn't find one on the system so hopefully this will be located before Monday.

Still loving my C350e but then I'm not the one paying for the petrol :)

It's a electric water pump coupled to a electric heater you can hear it running outside and from the speed it warms up going to be a couple of kw hence the range drop

Wallbox installed!

Rolec 32A Tethered Wallbox installed this morning, with the obligatory 'big brother' smart meter. Very pleased with EV Charging Solutions who did the install.

Only 24 days, 16 hours, and approx 33 mins until I get my C350e!!

I am looking to install something similar so if you don't mind me asking, how much did it cost?
Also does the installer fill out all the paperwork or are customers expected to?

My car isn't due until end of May and I know the grant goes down to £500 but not sure Lex will give me the paper work to submit in time.

I'd be interested to see a photo of where the supply cable (not the tethered lead) enters the charger box, as I'm installing one myself and there doesn't look much room to gland the cable in.

I'm glad I didn't get it installed by one of these companies as I wouldn't fancy having a meter like that on show underneath my consumer unit.

I went through Rolec, and they sent my enquiry to EV Charging Solutions as my local installers (I'm Leics and I think they are based in Notts). Total charge £196. £195 + £1 card charge.

When I booked the install they sent me a list of info they required. You need a VIN number as a minimum, plus proof of ownership/order and as mine will be a company leased vehicle, a letter from my employer verifying I will be the 'keeper'. They take the info and do the grant paperwork. Just need your signature on completion.

I'll take a pick and post in the morning.

Luckily my consumer unit is in the downstairs loo, so not really bothered about a 2nd box on the wall. One advantage of the meter is I get to see kWh used by the car easily.

Have not bothered with a chargemaster or similar. This 13amp external socket was about £20 from screw fix and looks quite nice in stainless steel and includes a blue LED when switched on.

Does anyone know if apple carplay or Android auto are set up on the c350e?

Rolec Install - Cables

If you're comfortable doing the electrics yourself then absolutely why not - not for me though. Installer insisted on checking earthing for water and electric supplies before starting the work (any ideas)?

When you look at it, its just a new breaker on the consumer unit, and then heavy duty cable to the wallbox outside.

I went through Rolec also ... and the local company installed on 18th Dec 2015 with the car due 22 Feb 2016. NOTE: I didn't need the VIN ... just proof of order and as soon as the car arrives I will have to provide OLEV the VIN to confirm that I actually took delivery of the car. I was charged £205 (£185 + £10 for the 32A + £10 for a custom colour pod).

The local company were keen to do the install asap so that I could get the full grant from HM gov.

Thanks lookyhooky, I'll do something similar. I'm an electrical engineer so quite comfortable doing the work myself and will get my next door neighbour who's fully registered to do the final testing and certify it.

The checking of your earthing will just be part of the testing they need to carry out to make sure the electrical installation is safe before they do the final connections.

My consumer unit is right at the other end of my house to my driveway so I have to run 20m of the armoured cable, so would have been much more expensive than the standard installations. The only cost to me was the Rolec socket which cost me a shade over £300 from my friendly electrical wholesaler, and I'll get my neighbour a nice bottle of wine for doing the testing. :)

That's good to see. I'm having the same unit installed by the same company on Monday!

I'd get some hooks on the wall to hold that brick - that's a fair bit of weight to be hanging off the 13a plug, last thing you want is a problem on a high current draw circuit.
