What mechanisms (if any) are in place to stop the theft of these charge cables?

What about the other end? Now just thinking of pranksters that may think it funny to disconnect them..

Both are locked. Card and key needed to unlock :)

For the record. It seems some chargers don't need a specific card. Ie. The pod charger at sainsburys Rustington starts and works when my ecotricity card was swiped. And twas free. Others probably less lovely :)

Apologies if this has already been answered, but how do you get this Ecotricity card and how much does it cost?

Thanks guys - sorry I was being lazy I should've googled! :)

Some good de-ICEing there :thumb:

I managed my first successful public charge today.

My first go I found my point on chargemap app, but arrived to find I need a cable... every other public point I've been to has had one.

Second location worked perfectly, was even free!

Nearly there

Well, having ordered one in June last year my C350e arrives on 11/4.

It has been interesting following your experiences here.

I am in the lucky position of having a charge point at home (Chargemaster), a 7 mile commute, and 13amp charging in our underground car park at the office. If I drive "normally" then I should get there and back without fuel.

Having said, that I am moving from an X3 3.0d (the straight 6 on that was superb) and I am looking forward to being occasionally more spirited. I am an in the happy position of saving about £3500 per year in tax on like for like value cars (c. £48k) so I am not in this entirely for the eco credentials but will enjoy the HP and torque.

I haven't seen any on the road yet. But I see from the posts that there are other Midlanders out there.

Looking forward to this new experience - watch out for a Brilliant Blue Premium Plus Estate in the Birmingham area!

I've been driving the new C class for a year or so and only recently found that the whilst in stop/start traffic I would spend a lot of time with my foot on the brake. By applying a firm press on the brake pedal the word "hold" appears and the brake automatically applies. A tap on the accelerator and you are off again. Great for hill starts too.

Most probably know this already??
I have been trying the Hold feature since this post. Using it all the time now when stopped in queues. Nice feature

Does this work on 350e also? Been trying to get it to activate and no joy so far. Where does the hold indicator appear?

When you have stopped, keep your foot on the brake and press harder. The word 'hold' will appear at the bottom of the screen behind the wheel, very handy.

I think the trick is, once completely stopped to depress the brake a little harder but quickly as well
