C350e owners club

Now covered 1,200 miles and by recharging each evening (standard outdoor socket only takes 2 hours) average mpg now up to 65.

Well impressed. I drive like a vicar round the M25 & M4 and can't beat 48mpg starting with a full charge

I've had mine 2 weeks now and covered 1500 miles, haven't plugged it in yet as I pay private fuel tax so no major incentive to plug it in just yet... and I'm getting 32mpg since new ;) powerrrrrr

Does that mean if the C350e is driven less that frugally it's a bit of a beast?

Please say yes :)

Yes - it is faster than my CLS 350CDI was and it is more agile. The acceleration from say 50mph is very impressive. In my opinion if you are buying one as a tax efficient car that is also very rapid then you will be very pleased but if you are buying it for fuel economy only then you should have bought another car. My diesel CLS used to average about 50mpg on a 150 mile regular journey and driving in the same way (cameras and variable speed limits) the C350e does about 45mpg. I went for a C350e for a number of reasons not least that even back in March when I ordered it, I thought diesel residuals would melt.

There has been some exchanges on here about companies incurring greater cost due to the consumption of the C350e over say Audi diesels - this ignores the fact that as the emission is only 50 then the company can offset the whole purchase cost against corporation tax in the first year so on a £ 35k car they offset at least £ 7k or all of the lease cost. Cars above 75k/km receive only partial tax relief. £7k buys a lot of petrol !

That's a bloody good point, think my car will be the first hybrid in the fleet so will make sure our financial director is aware of these implications.

Nice one Wivenhoe!

Very good points . I don't think it will get anywhere near the 65 mpg I got from a 508 but it's classier, more comfortable and quicker. I hold out hope that when I only do 10 miles each way two days per week the engine won't start

That might just be possible if (1) you don't go above 40 and coast as much as possible and (2) when the charge gets to about 20% you switch to E-mode to stop the engine from kicking in. This gives you an extra 1-2 miles before it gets to about 10%, beyond which it will only run on the engine.

Mine currently won't do more than 8 miles if I have aircon & auto temp on. My dealer wants me to 'monitor it' and see if we can do something to improve. It shows 14 miles range on a full charge but melts as I drive around town rather than on a motorway. It charges ok on 'charge mode' and gives me up to 10 miles in stop go traffic.

I really couldn't be any happier with mine, I am also getting around 10 miles on electric but I don't really pay that much attention to it. The only incentive I'm having to drive Eco is the amount of times I'm filling up. I wish they would have fitted a bigger tank but I guess the batteries limit the space

Come on folks

:bannana::bannana::bannana:It's all well and good hearing about the economy of the car (and thanks) but surely there's more to it than just that.... Let's hear more about the gadgets and quality of the car, the performance and better still how about more lovely pics to get us not quite yet owners salivating!!! (Especially if you have a Brilliant Blue saloon) ; )

Well for a car that is the fastest c class apart from the real AMG 63 ..lets hear more about the power plz :bannana::thumb:

You know you can get a tuning box that makes it 340bhp including the electric. Imagine what that would be like. My friend has one not on a Mercedes but a really good but of kit.... In another note I have now left many cars standing at the lights with my C350e :thumb:

Can I ask what range anyone is getting on a full tank, driving at around the motorway limit, either with or without a full charge?

Everything seems so great about the 350e, but I don't want to be refuelling every 350 miles

Thanks

I haven't charged mine at all using a plug, use the charge mode on the engine maybe 1-2 a full tank and seem to get 300 miles a tank. That's a mix of motorways, city and putting my foot down every now and again... I'm filling up a lot lol

Where would you get one of those tuning boxes from, i'm intrigued :)

Mercedes-Benz C350e 208 Bhp / 211 PS / 155 kW CRTD2® Multi-Channel Petrol Tuning Box Chip

Remember to add the electric motor figures on as this just gives you an engine increased figure

Looks intriguing, I'd be worried in case it doesn't interface well given the hybrid complications though.

My last 3 vehicles have had aftermarket chips fitted though, would be interesting to see if anyone tries it.

Difficult to imagine given the scarcity of the 350e that they've actually tried it on vehicle.

Theses device usually just make the system think it is running cooler, that's how the diesel models usually work. If this plugs into the fuel rail it will either increase pressure or duration of the injection. I agree with the worry over the effect on the hybrid interface. I have already had a gearbox valve block and module replaced( first week of owning it) wouldn't want to run the risk with warranty claims on such a complex beast.
I have done this on diesels and run them for 100000 miles with no issues and great power gains that actually saved fuel.
I have done 1800 miles with no further problems. It has done nearly 700 miles on electric mode. The performance is quite good as it is, I have given it a good thrashing now and the gearbox was awful in sport and sport plus, the red line up changes were like it was missing a gear. The down changes were very harsh. The manual mode was also bad. It took about ten minutes of going up and down the box to make it learn and smooth things out. When I got the car back from the dealer they said that they had to drive it for the gearbox to re learn adaption values, I assume they only did this at low speed and in comfort or Eco modes. I will give it another go after a few more miles to see if it has remembered the values in these modes. Has anyone else given it some beans In the sport modes? How was the up and down changes?
