C350e owners club

Just had a sit-in learning session to unravel a few more mysteries after four weeks ownership. The climate control will work from the App on an iPhone or iPad in both Timed and immediate modes. But you have to be patient as it takes ages to communicate with the car. It even worked with the iPhone as I sat in the car. I've only used it once with a timed departure that I set-up using the iPhone. Have now enabled the "activate with key" function so that even with Start/Stop button installed, climate control worked from a single press of the unlock button of the key.

This is some weird but wonderful car...! Hope you're going to enjoy it as most people here seem to.

That's really interesting. So if I set it up, then the climate / preheat will work by unlocking and locking the car with the remote from inside the house prior to departure? Could be useful when the app is playing up.

Exactly. It is a setting in the Climate control part of Comand. Simply unlock and lock to activate either with key or door handle if you have keyless entry.

You can only do this once between each engine start.

Hi, is the MPG figure for the ICE only? Using your numbers for example, 16.5 miles @ 66 mpg with ICE running, then 16.5 miles on the battery? Or is it a combined figure?
Hi, it's combined, so you have to factor on the cost of one charge to work out a true equivalent mpg, say 60p (in my case) of electric used as well (I don't have nighttime tariff). That's equivalent to 0.6/5 (£ cost of a gallon of fuel), gallons of petrol, i.e. 60p would have bought you 0.12 of a gallon. So 33 miles at 66mpg is half a gallon actual fuel used, plus the virtual 0.12 gallons that my 60p of electric would have bought = 0.62 gallon equivalent usage. So 33 miles/ 0.62 = a virtual mpg of 53.2. Is there logic here or have I gone mad!!!

I am working on the same basis. My first "tank" of fuel was at a total cost of just under 10p per mile. So low 50s MPG equivalent.

I work it out as total cost (fuel plus electric) divided by miles travelled to get pence per mile.

Take the price per litre (in pence) and divide by the cost per mile. Multiply this by 4.546 to get miles per gallon.

Either way I am happy enough.

I remember reading a few posts back that when the sat nav is on it works out where best to use the battery; is this just with comand or the garmin as well?

I know it does with Comand as long as you put the car into Eco mode on the Dynamic Select. Manual section below just says suitable route guidance which implies Comand or Garmin. The final sentence says how you can see route based energy management is active. [emoji3] Glad I spent the 9 months waiting for the car reading the manuals - the iPhone app version of MB Guides is really handy.

Route-based energy management
For route-based energy management, the system factors in information about the expected route when route guidance is active.
The information on the route is provided by the multimedia system and includes the following:
road categories
speed limitations
data on downhill gradients
The use of electric energy is automatically optimally distributed from the beginning to the end of the journey, using information about the route. The distribution is pre-emptive and takes into consideration:
the sections of the journey ahead
the energy consumption on the whole route
The charge status of the high-voltage battery is thus systematically controlled. In addition, the control function takes into account that:
the fuel savings through the use of can vary, depending on the route (e.g. urban, interurban or motorway)
the use of electrical energy is held available in particular for electric operation (e.g. urban routes)
The vehicle thus automatically selects the optimum driving mode for the respective section of the route.
Route-based energy management is available under the following conditions:
drive program E is selected
HYBRID driving mode is selected
active route guidance is activated
suitable map data is available
When route-based energy management is in operation, the area in front of the vehicle is shown as green in the multifunction display.

Is anyone able to tell me the front tyre size on standard wheels? I have a puncture and need to call Leaseplan but car is not here and I can't get hold of the person I left it with.

Thanks

Fortunately not broken down just a puncture and the repair kit didn't work.

Currently being recovered to get a new tyre!

RAC has universal space savers they can now put on cars to get them to garages to save the cost of recovery.

I wasn't offered one just recovery.

Ridiculous that cars don't have a spare anymore.

Strange the spec does not match the 350e also its called a shooting brake yet the picture shows a 350e??

Thanks, I will try this out. I'm loving the car but have made a couple of big mistakes so far. I'm so used to my Audi I've accidentally taken the car out of drive and into Park on the motorway a few times. I need to read the manual. I only got 30 something mpg so far, I need to work out how I improve that.

What happened when you selected Park at speed?

Presume that your gearbox didn't explode :)
