C350e owners club

1st impression after a 10 mile drive on the country roads.

1. Its a lot lot smoother than the AMG Line. Although I am gutted I missed the alloys, skirts etc. The Airmatic ride makes up for it.

2. Its a lot quieter than the 1.6d (Renault engine) mind you the 220d was even worse.

3. The seats although not as hugging as the AMG Line extend for my legs, the AMG line seats did not and felt like I was wearing hotpants instead of seats.

4. The handling is not as good as the AMG line with a lot more body role going into corners. But its a good compromise for the ride which is smooth.

The only query I had was I enabled surround sound for the Burmester and they do sound better than Mercedes OEM. However I had it on full volume and it did not sound as loud as I was expecting being that it sound go to 590w.

Overall I'm really happy with it.

I think it harks back to reverse being in front of neutral and drive on the mechanical auto boxes.

Agreed. The forward-to-rear auto lever movement of P-R-N-D has been with us for decades. We seem to have missed the chance to change to a more intuitive sequence.

But then, when we had manual boxes, selecting reverse wasn't always logical either. Sometimes the gear stick had to go forward to get into reverse. Got to keep alert to survive!

I'm going to enjoy this one - warts and all.

Ive had mine for 1200 miles now, its averaged 44mpg with my charging it daily and has done 600ish of those miles with the engine off.. Coming from a 335d XDrive i was a little nervous but so far I've not been disappointed! :thumb:

Only thing i find odd, if i use the pre heat it seems to use over 20% of the battery by the time i get in the car when though its plugged in?

Also at low speed on electric, the gearbox can seem a little rough :dk:

Mercedes forgot to mention that the boot liner's don't fit when they charged me £200 for one mind :fail so had a local company make one up for me which looks great:

Noticed the gearbox snatching a bit in EDrive yesterday at start of trip but it smoothed out as the journey went on. I'm only about 350 miles in so far so I'm not getting anxious about that sort of thing yet.

Love your Estate Boot liner. I'll have to stick to a tatty bit of blue plastic tarpaulin for the moment....

Well that was fun - first go in Sport+
I had run out of battery on the journey out so decided to see what other joys the car can bring on the return. This thing has an impressive turn of pace.
Somewhat less impressive was the 21mpg! Albeit that this was a combination of my heavy foot and occasional slow moving traffic over a relatively short 13mile journey - lots of variable speed.

I will have to put my halo back on tomorrow to get my averages back up.

Still very happy with the 74mpg average over 260 miles. Factoring in electricity costs I am seeing the equivalent of about 50 mpg in cost per mile terms. Coming from 35mpg I am more than happy.

The Sat Nav pronunciation is shocking IMHO.

Last night it kept reading out instructions to join the Cubic Metres.

Of course it was referring to the M3 !

The Sat Nav pronunciation is shocking IMHO.

As you approach the Met office roundabout eastbound leaving Exeter the map display is clear and accurate but Miss Daisy doesn't even acknowledge that there is a roundabout to negotiate. She simply says: " turn half-left onto 'uniton' road" There are other instances of the aspirate "h" followed by "o" - sounding like [h]un. No ambiguities yet but there might be fun when we get to France and Italy :D.

Not a fan of the sat nav in general. I find it excruciatingly slow. Although the junction diagram that flashes up when you've got to turn off the motorway is a nice touch.

Google maps is such an awesome sat nav that I generally use that on my phone in a holder stuck to the vents. It's so incredibly responsive when it comes to traffic that for me its the best say nav about.

Much prefer the professional navigation on my 5 series to the MB command version. Had hoped that when CarPlay arrives for this model it would improve matters, but after testing this in California recently, I am not so sure now

Hands down the worst unit I've ever used (and I've had a base Tom Tom in a Spanish hire car).

I've also taken to using Google Maps at the start of a route to check general nav and traffic issues then I go all Skywalker and turn my piloting computer off. Fed up of the pure intransigence of the system if you don't follow one of the three routes it has picked out.

607 miles from one tank achieved on mostly motorway miles

So 66mpg and 607 miles from a full tank isn't quite the 711 I achieved a couple of weeks ago but considering this involved at least 400 miles on motorways and a good few moments in sport+, I think it's very respectable.

Goodness, that's terrific! Would you mind saying how many intermediate HVB re-charges you made to be able to cover that many miles with the ICE off?

When I'm away on business (3 round trips totalling over 400) it's just a single charge before leaving home. The other miles will have 1-2 charges a day - home and gym (no charger available at office)

As battery technology improves and MB can bring us a car with say 30-40 miles range then they would have a very compelling proposition on their hands.

I am seeing similar results half way through my first tank of fuel.

I charge at home and office (about three days out of 5). I haven't done any runs longer than about 20miles yet.

My cost calculator is saying I am driving at about 9p per mile - fuel and electric - which is equivalent to an ICE car doing a about 55mpg.

Not amazing but considering this type of driving would not be good in an ICE it is not really a fair comparison.

Mine has been off the road for just under 8 weeks. Hoping to get it back today with a shiney new gearbox!!!

No symptoms, but when they did a repair on my original issue, they noticed that there was ONE dodgy gear change on an 80 mile round trip, so box has been changed

one dodgy gear change ?? makes you wonder if that one was software related !

How do you get the app to show miles?

How do you get the app to show miles?

It isn't the app! If you use your phone to browse to the main website all of the main site is accessed by a mobile friendly version pop-up.

If you use a computer to visit the Mercedes Me site you will see that as soon as you click on vehicle and then say location it will open the mobile version of the site in a pop up window. Do the same with an iPhone and the phone will ask "do you want to add this page to your home screen?" If you say yes you end up with a nice little app icon on your phone which will keep taking you to the mobile friendly section.

In the main site set you can set your units.

I hope that helps.

I forgot to mention that when my fuel went down to 1 bar on the display on Sunday and I'd had a full overnight charge, upon starting the car I received a message on the dashboard saying 'emode only available - refuel immediately' or words to that effect. It was displayed in red.
