I have a standard car (I.e. No prem or prem+) and can't work out how to link the nav and emode as described in a few posts above, is this beacausenmine in poverty speck?

I've had another look tonight after recent posts of telling me where to look and it's still a no go for me :( When my local dealer calls me about activating Connect Me I'm going to ask and see if they can shed any light on the issue.

I'll try post a pic of it not working where I think I should be getting the green light tomorrow if I can.

I have tried above, bizarrely I don't believe its available on uk spec cars.

Not gloating, but OAT was showing in my Estate from delivery. I had read about the probs others had had so I asked my dealer to ensure that all software updates had been done during PDI. Of course, I have no idea what was done or whether the temp would have been there anyway. But it works now. Not at home at the moment nor near the car so can't check how to display it. Maybe tomorrow if no-one else chips in.

Recieved my cat on Tuesday and must say I absolutely love it - the 18 inch wheels and sun protection glass really make the car stand out.

Love all the bells and whistles on the premium plus.

The only dissapointment I have so far is the range of the electricity and the mpg of the petrol. And it's very poor!

Me too - I can't seem to find any way to confirm linking of satnav with energy management either - no additional green showing on that screen. Have Premium spec, but plain old Garmin and no Comand. Don't have Connect Me either owing to the leasing company refusing to activate it.

Long road trip in the C350e estate or not?

With thoughts turning to summer holidays, we'll be hitting 8 European countries as part of a 3-4 week tour during August. ;) The unresolved question is whether to take the 350e estate or my wife's 2014 BMW 520d MSport saloon.

With all the reports of charging system failures and gearbox issues, I don't know if I feel confident enough to take the Mercedes. :dk:

I know there is full breakdown cover, but I don't think this gives you a like for like replacement vehicle and what would be a quick repair on ICE vehicles could be (as per experience on this thread) weeks off the road!!

So what would you guys do in my position?

Take the Merc.

The chances are it will be ok and if it breaks you will likely get some nice compensation from MBUK.

Nothing to add! It's just there - bottom right - on the Home page of the "Trip" section of the Multi-Function Display. The one showing Total Miles and Miles since last reset. I've not found any way to change that or to lose it. Good Luck!

Take the bmw. Mine broke 2 weeks from new. The hybrid system failed while sitting on the drive and it had to be towed away. Breakdown service was very efficient, but I got a replacement bottom of the range c class as replacement, and no word of compensation. Fix took 5 weeks but I had rejected the car long before it was fixed.

If you've done 2K miles or more in the Merc without a serious problem, take it. I don't know the Beemer, but the Merc is a class action in comfort and facilities.

Incidentally, there's a good thread here on the subject of driving in the ZTLs in Italy. If you're going there, it's worth a read. We'll be in the ZTL in Lucca in early June and don't want any €100 fines.

2014.... I would take the F10/F11

The BMW is the car to be for long cruises with the oil burner powering the way if you ask me. plus.. the boot is bigger if you have a saloon vs saloon

Sorry yes - on the trip computer go to the energy flow screen if Eco and SatNav are coupled then there is a green shadow at the front of the car.
Tried this yesterday for the first time by getting the car to navigate home from work last night. Worked a treat and got the green glow! It actually charged the battery up from 20 ish % to over 30% whilst I was on the M25 so that I had more juice left for the urban/ country roads at the end of my journey. There's something quite satisfying about knowing the car is working things out for you, . Though you can run the battery down more by reverting to emode for the end of a journey, which allows the battery fill level drop from 20% to 10% and improve mpg.

How do you couple of the satnav?? I thought (obviously incorrectly) that the fact they were part of the same technology it would just work that way

Got an interesting 500 mile round trip to do tomorrow.

You don't have to couple it - the car will do this for itself if you are in the Eco drive mode with a route planned in the Sat Nav.

I too have seen how the car builds charge on motorway segments to use on the urban bits.

On a regular journey (home to work) I think I can regular the drive mode better than it can I'm afraid.

20 mile commute : 7 miles lanes, 7 miles A road/dual carriageway & 6 miles urban.

I know from home I can run hybrid mode using as much battery as possible until I reach 35%. I then switch to e-save until I hit the outskirts of south London but which time it's recovered about 6%.

The 41% is enough to get me the last 6 miles or so in traffic until I plug in with about 11% remaining. Approx 87mpg usually for the journey

I'm curious as to what difference it would make using charge instead of e-save after you hit 35%...?

I agree, I think route your own route knowledge is as good if not probably better, if for no other reason that you can run the battery down to 9/ 10%, whereas using Eco and Sat Nav it will hold the battery at 20%. So for me it charged unnecessarily on the motorway leaving to much juice in the battery at the end of the journey. Having said that my most economical journey to work 33 miles with middle third on M25 has been 78mpg and that was in Eco/ Sat Nav linked mode.

Could we achieve the mythical 1000 miles of a tank?

Well this graphic says yes but sadly I won't get to find out as I'm about to head off on a round trip to Newbury. Should hopefully break my previous record of 711 off a single tank but for now, to have achieved almost 500 miles off 41% of a tank is pretty awesome I think :thumb:

I ended up emailing customer services and they've got back to me - this only works with COMAND :-( so us Garmin peasants will have to suffer without this feature.
